Used 2022 Ford Expedition for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 18.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,352 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Ford Expedition earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its towing capability, comfort for long trips, and spacious interior. They also see it as a good value relative to other large SUVs, and many appreciate its strong overall usefulness.

On the downside, the expert review points to poor fuel economy and occasional technical glitches, and it also notes busy ride quality. In practical terms, that means you get a highly capable full-size SUV that works best if space, towing, and comfort matter more to you than efficiency or a cushy ride.

The model’s 35.1% good-or-great deal rate suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with praise centered on comfort, towing, and everyday usefulness. The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by highlighting the Expedition’s strong turbocharged powertrain and its ability to handle long highway trips with ease.

Ford also includes a complimentary 90-day trial subscription to connected navigation service, which adds some early ownership convenience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, heavily equipped SUV can become expensive to live with if maintenance or repairs stack up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you like, even if it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, electronics, and infotainment system, since the review notes ride harshness and occasional technical glitches. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition, because this is a large, expensive SUV and wear can add up quickly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum, and Timberline. Base versions are less richly equipped, while Limited adds more advanced driver-assistance tech and Timberline is the off-road-oriented choice with standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, more ground clearance, a skid plate, and Trail Turn Assist.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and some versions get a high-output tune. Fuel economy ranges from 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Limited adds Co-Pilot360 Assist+, while King Ranch and Platinum get Co-Pilot Assist 2.0 standard.
• Infotainment: Standard Sync 4 uses a 12-inch touchscreen, while Sync 4A upgrades to a 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen. Both include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access, natural voice recognition, and connected navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition returns 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle recorded 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2022 Ford Expedition is offered in 6 trim levels: XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum, and Timberline.

Here's the short version:

• XL STX: This is the entry point if you want the Expedition’s size and capability without paying for extra luxury features. It makes the most sense if you mainly care about the basics and plan to add only what you need.
• XLT: This is the logical step up for shoppers who want a more balanced mix of equipment and value. It should be the trim to compare first if you want a better everyday experience without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it unlocks more advanced tech and safety content, and it’s also the trim used for the Stealth Edition packages. If you want the sweet spot between equipment and price, start here.
• King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more upscale feel and standard Co-Pilot Assist 2.0. It also gets the adaptive damping suspension, which helps address some of the ride harshness noted in testing.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most premium mainstream Expedition experience, along with standard Co-Pilot Assist 2.0 and the adaptive damping suspension. It’s the right pick if comfort and equipment matter more than value.
• Timberline: This is the one to choose if you want the most rugged setup. It adds standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, suspension modifications, more ground clearance, a skid plate, and off-road tech such as Trail Turn Assist.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ starts with Limited trim, and Co-Pilot Assist 2.0 is standard on King Ranch and Platinum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,352 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,986, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $38,986 sits slightly below last year's $47,845.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they buy at today’s lower prices. If you own one for a few years, the key to protecting resale value will be keeping mileage, condition, and service history in good shape.

Because the Expedition is a desirable full-size SUV with strong utility, well-kept examples should continue to attract buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2022 Ford Expedition earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Limited adds Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, speed-limit-sign recognition, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. King Ranch and Platinum standardize Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, which adds a surround-view camera system, rear automatic emergency braking, and Active Park Assist 2.0.

The expert review also notes that lane-centering assist can be irritating and sometimes less confidence-inspiring in heavier traffic. That means the Expedition’s safety tech is broad and well equipped, but you should still test the driver-assistance systems yourself before buying.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings updated Sync 4 and Sync 4A infotainment, plus expanded driver-assistance content.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,366, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,986 average.
• It is a practical choice for towing, hauling cargo, or carrying passengers.

The bottom line: If you want the newer infotainment and safety updates, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you mainly want Expedition space and capability, the 2021 is the smarter value play.
