CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Ford Bronco
overall

Summary
With 321 currently listed for sale near Columbia, SC and an average price of $40,881.00, 34.6% of 2022 Ford Broncos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Ford Bronco 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
100.0% of 2022 Bronco models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco stands out because it delivers the kind of off-road capability that has made it one of the most talked-about SUVs in its class, while still being significantly better to drive on pavement. That combination gives it a broader appeal than a pure trail rig, and the deep roster of Bronco models means there is one for almost any skill level and a wide range of budgets. Ford also gives it multiple body styles, which adds to its versatility and helps make the Bronco feel tailored to different kinds of buyers.
Its strengths are easy to understand: incredible off-road capabilities and plenty of cargo space make it a compelling choice for shoppers who want adventure without giving up everyday usefulness. The Bronco’s popularity also speaks to how well it lands with buyers, though that demand has made it sold out for 2022. The tradeoffs are worth noting, too, since advanced safety features are not standard and its safety scores are middling.

Definitely over priced!! Kind of generic plastic inside. The 4 cylinder turbo is under powered- definitely find a v6 turbo. Rides smoothly. Very weak sound system .. don’t know how Bang and Olufsem sounds. Manual seats are pretty annoying. Hard top was $5k n totally plastic. It’s cool to own a Bronco but for the money , you should get a loaded Wrangler. It is way better priced and way better options - but …. They are 20 to 1 on the road wranglers to Broncos

I’ve owned two Jeep Wranglers and the Bronco puts them to shame. Excellent ride, steering, suspension and handling. The vehicle is comfortable, roomy and a much better vehicle for daily driving versus the Wrangler. The soft top is quick and simple to lower and appears to be of good quality and the visibility is excellent through all windows thanks to the frameless doors that are a breeze to remove. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned!

Is the 2022 Ford Bronco a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Ford Bronco earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, stylish design, and spaciousness, and many also like its comfort and tech features. The Bronco’s broad model range and multiple body styles make it appealing if you want adventure-focused capability without giving up everyday usefulness. The main trade-offs are that some essential features are optional and value can feel stretched for the price. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways that matter to shoppers who want a capable SUV they can count on, especially for adventurous use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Bronco’s systems function as advertised, with no false alarms or glitches. Ford’s included maintenance coverage language adds a small ownership perk for early service. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-use off-road examples may have more wear than their mileage alone suggests.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Bronco has seen trail use or heavy modification. Focus on underbody condition, suspension wear, and signs of hard off-road driving. It also makes sense to verify that the equipment you want is actually present, since some important features were optional.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup spans seven distinct trims, with off-road capability increasing as price rises. Base versions emphasize the Bronco’s rugged design and utility, while higher trims add more specialized hardware and features.
- Powertrain: The base turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder makes 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, while the optional turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 makes 330 hp and 415 lb-ft. A seven-speed manual is available only with the four-cylinder, and the 10-speed automatic is standard with the V6.
- Safety package: Frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are available on all but the base trim as part of the optional Mid package. Front parking sensors and a surround-view camera system are offered with the High package, while the Luxe package adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist.
- Infotainment: The Sync 4 system has quick responses and sharp graphics, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The available wireless charging pad is a useful convenience add-on.
- Fuel efficiency: The two-door with the base four-cylinder is estimated at 20 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. The V6 ranges as low as 17 mpg combined, depending on trim and package.
Which 2022 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?
The 2022 Ford Bronco is offered in 7 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: This is the most stripped-down path into the Bronco, and it misses the optional driver-assistance features that appear on higher trims. If you want the Bronco experience at the lowest entry price, this is the starting point, but you’ll give up some convenience and safety equipment.
- Sweet-spot trim: Big Bend is the most balanced choice if you want a better mix of price and equipment. It sits above the base model without jumping all the way to the more expensive off-road-focused trims.
- Premium/top trim: Everglades is the most specialized high-end model in this lineup, with swamp-ready hardware like an intake snorkel, a Warn winch, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires. It’s the right pick if you want maximum capability and don’t mind paying for it.
- Off-road trim: Wildtrak is a strong choice if you want serious trail ability without going all the way to the most extreme setup. It also includes the Sasquatch package, which adds the big tires and extra ground clearance.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that many advanced driver-assistance features are not standard on the base trim.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,951 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $37,925.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Ford Bronco's resale value?
The current average of $38,313 sits slightly below last year's $41,915.
That price movement suggests the Bronco has cooled from its earlier peak, which can make it easier for future sellers to price competitively. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of preserving value than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. Demand remains supported by the Bronco’s strong reputation and broad appeal, which helps cushion resale pressure over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco safe?
The standard Bronco earns Good ratings from IIHS in frontal, side, and roof strength tests, and Acceptable in head restraints and seats. The four-door has received four-star ratings for frontal crash protection from NHTSA, and both the four- and two-door Broncos have three-star rollover ratings.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
The Bronco’s safety equipment is solid, but many of the more advanced driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard. Frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are bundled into the Mid package on all but the base trim. Higher packages add front parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist. The main caveat is that the Bronco’s safety scores are middling relative to its strengths elsewhere.
Should I buy a 2022 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines strong off-road ability with better pavement manners than many rivals.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $37,363, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,313 average.
- It launched the Bronco’s modern return with a sharp off-road focus.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $42,148, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,313 average.
- It adds more model variety and broader everyday versatility.
The bottom line: If you want the Bronco’s best mix of capability, usability, and current-market pricing, the 2022 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the core Bronco formula intact. If you want to spend more for a newer model-year option, the 2023 is worth a look, but you’ll pay a premium for it.
