How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,507 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Suburban’s appeal is rooted in its roomy cabin and broad capability, especially if you want a full-size SUV that prioritizes passenger and cargo space. Chevrolet also added meaningful technology and safety updates for this year, including a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features.

The main trade-offs are its potentially polarizing design and poor fuel economy, and it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. If you want maximum space and utility, those compromises may be acceptable; if you value easy city driving or efficiency, you should weigh them carefully.

Good and great deals make up 32.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban is built around the kind of large-SUV formula that tends to hold up well for buyers who need space, towing ability, and everyday versatility. Chevrolet’s updates this year also lean toward durability in daily use, with standard safety and convenience features that reduce friction in ownership.

Its available powertrains include a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The diesel is described as torquey and fuel-efficient, and it also comes with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that a large, heavy SUV with strong capability can still bring higher running costs if you drive it hard or tow often.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you’re considering, even if the price looks attractive. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a large SUV like this, where wear items, electronics, and prior body damage can be expensive to sort out. Focus on overall condition, signs of heavy use, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and more upscale equipment, and the High Country is the plushest. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about cabin materials and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six. The diesel stands out for its torque and fuel economy, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest gas option.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control are optional.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth audio streaming. LT and above upgrade to a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in, and LT and above also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for V8-equipped models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, while the diesel is rated from 20 mpg city to 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Suburban’s core space and capability at the lowest starting point. It gets the 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard safety suite, but it’s the least upscale choice.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds leather seats, the larger 10.2-inch infotainment system, Google built-in, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless device charging. It’s the trim where the Suburban starts to feel meaningfully more modern and polished.
• RST: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a more expressive appearance package. The content highlights its distinctive styling, and it can be paired with the stronger 6.2-liter V8.
• Z71: This is the trim to consider if you want the standard 4WD setup and a more rugged orientation. It also can be paired with the 6.2-liter V8.
• Premiere: This trim sits above the mainstream versions and is one of the trims that can get the 6.2-liter V8 and the premium Bose 10-speaker Surround with CenterPoint audio system.
• High Country: This is the top-spec choice if you want the most upscale cabin and the strongest standard equipment mix. It also gets the 6.2-liter V8 and the premium Bose audio system.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard for 2022.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value if you compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,507 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,803, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $41,803 sits slightly below last year's $49,076.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since the model’s broad price spread gives shoppers plenty of alternatives.

The Suburban’s strong utility and family-friendly appeal should continue to support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. If you buy smart now and maintain the vehicle carefully, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, reverse automatic braking, lane-changing assistance, and a head-up display are optional.

One caveat is that IIHS has not tested this generation of the Suburban, so you should lean on the standard equipment list and NHTSA results when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added larger digital instrumentation, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features this year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,191, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,803 average.
• It delivers the redesigned Suburban’s core space and capability with modern tech and a new turbodiesel option.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version and can stretch for the 2022, it’s the stronger all-around pick thanks to its added tech and safety updates. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 remains a smart alternative because it keeps the same big-SUV fundamentals at a lower price.
