How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,504 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Suburbans to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Suburban’s appeal is rooted in its roomy cabin and broad capability, especially if you want a full-size SUV that prioritizes passenger and cargo space. Chevrolet also updated this model year with more technology and safety equipment, including a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: its design can be polarizing, fuel economy is poor, and it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Even so, the combination of space, capability, and updated tech makes it a strong fit if you need a large family hauler or tow vehicle. With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful shopping opportunity.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban is built around a proven full-size SUV formula, with a roomy cabin, strong towing ability, and multiple powertrain choices. Chevrolet also added technology and safety updates for this model year, which helps the truck feel more current for daily use.

Its available 3.0-liter turbodiesel is described as torquey and fuel-efficient, and it comes with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. That extra coverage can be reassuring if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is the same one that affects many large body-on-frame SUVs: higher running costs if you drive a lot or tow regularly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a large SUV like this, where wear items, electronics, and suspension components can add up. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim level you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and more upscale equipment. Higher trims bring more material quality and features, and the top-spec High Country is the plushest choice.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest gas option.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking is available.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LT and above add a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in, and LT and above also get a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for the V8 models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 16-17 mpg. The 3.0-liter diesel is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Suburban experience with the 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the basic six-speaker audio setup. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the lineup and don’t need luxury touches.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, the 10.2-inch infotainment system with Google built-in, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless device charging, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. It also gets the larger tech and convenience upgrades that make the Suburban feel more modern.
• RST: This trim leans into style, with sporty exterior details and a more distinctive look. It suits you if you want a more expressive Suburban and are willing to pay for appearance and available performance-oriented equipment.
• Z71: This is the trim to consider if you want the standard 4WD setup and the most trail-ready hardware in the lineup. It’s the right pick if capability matters more than luxury.
• Premiere: This trim adds more upscale equipment and is one of the trims that can get the 6.2-liter V8. It makes sense if you want stronger power and a more premium feel.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice, with the most luxurious cabin treatment and the strongest standard engine setup. It’s the one to buy if you want the most upscale Suburban experience.

Chevrolet also notes that LT and above get the larger digital instrument cluster, while reverse automatic braking is available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,504 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,629, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $41,629 sits slightly below last year's $48,914.

That drop suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you get more SUV for your money today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than just model-year desirability.

Because the Suburban is a high-demand family and towing vehicle, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest. Strong pricing today can also make it easier to buy at a reasonable entry point and hold value better if you maintain the vehicle carefully.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are also standard, while reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear pedestrian alert, lane-changing assistance, HD surround vision, and a head-up display are available.

One caveat is that IIHS has not tested this generation of the Suburban, so you’ll want to lean on the standard safety equipment and the NHTSA results when evaluating it.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added a larger digital instrument cluster, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features this year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,122, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,629 average.
• It still offers the cabin space and capability that define the Suburban.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version and can stretch your budget, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it adds meaningful tech and safety upgrades. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 remains a strong alternative and still delivers the core Suburban formula.
