How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 8.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,663 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, fuel economy, and features, and they also call out the convenience of Android Auto and heated seats. In practical terms, that lines up well with its roomy, value-oriented midsize-sedan setup and comfortable, easy-to-live-with character. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comfort and everyday usability standing out as recurring strengths. That said, some shoppers may want to pay close attention to how the car has been maintained over time, especially if you plan to keep it for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body panels, alignment, tires, and signs of uneven wear. Because this model is valued for comfort and everyday usability, you’ll want to focus on overall condition and maintenance quality rather than just the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,663 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,729, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $15,729 sits slightly below last year's $17,221.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can make it a better buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you purchase at a competitive price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position. Demand should remain supported by the Malibu’s value-focused appeal and comfortable, practical layout.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2022 Malibu is the right pick if you want a comfortable, value-oriented midsize sedan and you find a clean example at a fair price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it also makes sense to compare nearby model years and choose the one with the best combination of condition, history, and asking price.
