How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 8.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,676 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, features, and fuel economy, and they also call out the convenience of Android Auto and heated seats. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with a comfortable cabin and straightforward everyday usability. The market also shows 32.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also leans toward dependable day-to-day ownership, with drivers highlighting a smooth, trouble-free feel and a car that’s easy to live with over the long term. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for regular commuting and family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t had hidden damage or neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or other red flags. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, paint, tires, brakes, and interior wear so you can judge whether the car’s condition matches its asking price. Because this model is valued for comfort and everyday usability, focus on signs of past repair quality and overall maintenance rather than just mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,004, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,004 sits slightly below last year's $17,485.

That tells you the market has moved in a buyer-friendly direction, which can help you negotiate now but may also mean slower appreciation if you plan to sell later. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in good condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer market. The Malibu’s value proposition still depends heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2022 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan and you can find a clean example at a competitive price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it’s also worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a similar Malibu offers a better deal or cleaner history, but the 2022 remains a strong starting point for shoppers who prioritize comfort, efficiency, and everyday practicality.
