Used 2022 Buick Encore GX for Sale near Michigan

How much does the 2022 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 6.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 2,110 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Buick Encore GX earns a 4.57/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, advanced technology, and stylish presentation, and the user feedback also points to a compact SUV that feels easy to live with day to day. The trade-offs are familiar: the ride can be rough, the back seat is cramped, and value is a recurring concern. That makes it a better fit if you want a polished small crossover with modern features than if you prioritize space or bargain pricing.

The market reflects that mixed appeal, with 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find comfortable and well equipped, with several comments reinforcing its everyday dependability and easy-to-live-with nature. The expert drive notes also describe the powertrain as surprisingly capable and the overall driving experience as straightforward, which supports the sense that it should be manageable for long-term ownership. Buick’s included maintenance and ownership conveniences help reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s comfort, power, and value trade-offs still suit your needs after the honeymoon phase.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Pay close attention to ride quality, cabin condition, and how the back seat and cargo area fit your needs. If you’re shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the equipment you want is actually present, since some desirable features were packaged separately.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim uses cloth seats and standard halogen headlights, while the top trim adds leather seating and LED headlights. That means the lower trims are the ones most likely to feel stripped down if you want a more upscale cabin or better lighting.
• Powertrain: You get turbocharged three-cylinder engines, with a 1.2-liter unit standard on the lower trims and a 1.3-liter unit standard on the top trim. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available, and fuel economy is described as competitive for the class.
• Safety package: The standard Driver Confidence package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, following-distance indicator, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also included, while some trims can add more advanced equipment through packages.
• Infotainment: You get an eight-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth audio streaming, a WiFi hotspot, USB ports, OnStar, and SiriusXM. Navigation is available on higher trims, and built-in Amazon Alexa capability is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 30 mpg combined, while all-wheel-drive versions get 27 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Encore GX experience at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the standard tech and safety features without paying for extras, but it also comes with the most basic cabin and lighting setup.
• Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top price. It also opens the door to available upgrades like navigation, making it the sweet spot if you want a more complete feature set.
• Essence: This is the most upscale version, with leather seating and the stronger 1.3-liter engine standard. It’s the right pick if you want the most premium feel and the best standard equipment, though you’ll pay more for it.

The safety package is standard, but the headlight rating is better on Essence than on Preferred and Select.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,110 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,951, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $19,041 sits slightly below last year's $20,430.

That decline suggests the Encore GX has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current average price can make the vehicle easier to move, but it also means sellers may need to be more realistic about expectations. If the market stays near this range, resale should remain steady rather than especially strong.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX earns five-star ratings in frontal and side crash protection, and four-star ratings for rollover resistance from NHTSA. It also earned the IIHS top rating of Good in all crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, Teen Driver technology, and a tire-fill alert system. Higher trims and option packages can add features such as HD surround vision, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist with braking, a rear camera mirror, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

One caveat is that headlight performance varies by trim: the top Essence trim’s LED headlights rate better than the halogen units on Preferred and Select.

Should I buy a 2022 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s a carryover year with only new exterior paint colors, so you’re not missing a major update.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,481, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,041 average.
• It offers a quieter, more refined everyday feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $21,019, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $19,041 average.
• It adds little beyond a new paint option.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and current-market availability, the 2022 is the sensible target. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2021 is the better value play. If you want essentially the same vehicle and don’t mind paying more, the 2023 doesn’t bring enough extra to justify the jump for most buyers.
