That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $30,637, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,423 average.
• The 2023 adds a new generation with more cargo space and a more polished cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the stronger starting point because it sits well below the 2023’s average price while still offering solid deal availability and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer-generation package and its added utility, the 2023 is the upgrade path; if price matters most, the 2022 is the smarter buy.
