You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s condition matches the listing. What is the 2022 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $42,229 sits slightly below last year's $49,771.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can matter if you plan to sell later. A lower entry price can help you limit depreciation exposure, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the car is maintained and how desirable its configuration remains.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $61,239, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,229 average.
• It adds more refined comfort and driving balance, but its styling and tech interface are more polarizing.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer model’s comfort and driving polish, the 2023 is the better upgrade path; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter buy.
