How much does the 2022 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,501 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 5 Series earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a midsize luxury sedan that still leans into BMW’s performance heritage, while also offering a strong mix of technology, refinement, and driving appeal. You also get a well-equipped cabin without major year-to-year changes, so if you want a premium sedan with real performance credibility and broad feature coverage, this model year fits that brief. There are 37.8% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 5 Series is described as a polished, upscale sedan with plenty of safety equipment and a well-established platform. It also carries over the 2021 facelift without major changes, which can be reassuring if you prefer a model year with fewer surprises. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that it is a pricey and complex car, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and service records before you go any further. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the technology and comfort features, since the car’s systems can be tough to master and you want everything working as intended. Focus on overall condition, because this is a premium sedan where deferred maintenance or cosmetic wear can quickly change the value equation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,501 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,188, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $33,188 sits slightly below last year's $36,483.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on how well the car is maintained and presented. A clean history and strong condition should matter more than ever if you want to protect value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,678, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,188 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and more modern tech.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2022 is the stronger primary choice because it combines a softer price trend, solid inventory, and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path, especially if you want a lower entry price and can live with the older model year.
