How much does the 2022 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 10.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,507 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 5 Series earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner approval. The overview describes it as a midsize luxury sedan that blends technology, refinement, and driving appeal, while still feeling more engaging than many competitors. It also fits shoppers who want a polished luxury sedan with real performance credibility, though it is more comfort-focused than older versions and can be tough to master. 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview presents it as a well-equipped sedan with plenty of standard safety equipment and no major changes for the model year, which can be reassuring if you want a familiar package. It also suggests a car that has settled into a mature, refined formula rather than one undergoing big shifts. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that it is a pricey and complex car, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden issues before you commit. Pay close attention to the car’s condition, especially how well the technology works and whether the cabin and controls feel properly maintained. Because this model can be complex, a clean record and a thorough inspection are especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,507 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,677, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $32,677 sits slightly below last year's $36,369.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention depends on how well the car is kept and how desirable the specific listing is relative to the market. A clean history and strong condition should help you stand out when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,490, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,677 average.
• It offers a refreshed, more modern feel with a bigger touchscreen and mild-hybrid tech.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the newer-year market position, strong deal availability, and a well-equipped luxury sedan with broad appeal. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the smarter value play, especially if you want a lower entry price and can live with the older model year.
