Used 2022 BMW 4 Series for Sale near Utah

How much does the 2022 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 871 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.89/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its outstanding performance, comfort, stylish design, engine power, and handling. It also stands out for being fun to drive, offering plenty of cargo space, and packing impressive technology.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling can be polarizing, the back seat is cramped, and value for money is not its strongest suit. That makes it a better fit if you want a sporty luxury car that still works for everyday use, especially if driving dynamics matter more to you than maximum practicality.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers describe it as trouble-free and dependable in the ways that matter most for everyday ownership, with strong praise for its long-term appeal and confidence-inspiring performance.

BMW’s maintenance coverage also helps reduce early ownership friction: the first three years or 36,000 miles of scheduled service are covered. That said, used buyers should still watch for wear items and verify service history carefully, since premium-car upkeep can become expensive once the complimentary coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the brakes, suspension, electronics, and tire condition, since this car can be optioned heavily and repairs can add up quickly. Focus on whether the car’s equipment matches the asking price, because condition and options matter a lot in this segment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 430i is available with Sport or M Sport styling, while the M440i adds an M Performance design with Shadowline trim treatment. The 430i test vehicle also showed that some desirable equipment can be missing even on a well-optioned car, so you should pay close attention to feature content rather than assuming every example is similarly equipped.
• Powertrain: The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. It feels responsive across most of its rev range, and the eight-speed Sport automatic transmission is a strong match.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i.
• Infotainment: Standard Live Cockpit Professional pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the cloud-based navigation system receives over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The 430i is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 25.3 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 430i and M440i.

Here's the short version:

• 430i: This is the better-value choice if you want the core 4 Series experience without stretching to the pricier six-cylinder model. It delivers the car’s engaging handling, strong tech, and everyday usability, and it is the trim most shoppers should start with.
• M440i: Choose this if you want more performance and access to additional equipment, including the available Driving Assistance Professional Package and other premium features. It suits you best if you’re willing to pay more for a richer feature set and a more upscale experience.

Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe, but the more advanced driver-assistance package is reserved for the M440i.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 871 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,300, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $35,310 sits slightly below last year's $37,938.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect depreciation pressure to remain part of the ownership equation, especially if you pay too close to the top of the range today.

The car’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, though, and well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected ones. If you buy carefully and keep the car in good condition, you improve your odds of holding value better than the average luxury coupe-like hatchback.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe. It includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

BMW also includes safety-related connected services such as BMW Assist eCall, SOS Emergency Request, enhanced automatic collision notification, driver monitoring, post-collision braking, and front and rear parking sensors. A surround-view camera is available with the Parking Assistant Package.

The main caveat is that the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is not available on the 430i, so you need to step up to the M440i if you want adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering, lane-change assistance, emergency stop assistance, evasive steering assistance, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assistant.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It returns with a five-door hatchback body that improves rear-seat access and cargo utility.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,690, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,310 average.
• It emphasizes styling and offers coupe and convertible body styles with more drivetrain variety.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced mix of practicality, tech, and driving enjoyment, the 2022 is the stronger pick. If your top priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly route, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022’s hatchback practicality.
