Used 2022 BMW 4 Series for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2022 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 842 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.9/5 user rating, and our experts score it 6.5/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, comfort, and stylish design, and they especially like the engine power and handling. That lines up with the car’s use case as a sporty, practical hatchback-style luxury model with easier rear-seat access and useful cargo space.

The main trade-offs are its polarizing styling and poor value for money, plus a cramped back seat. Even so, if you want engaging driving manners in a more practical body style, this 4 Series fits that brief well. Good and great deals account for 37.5% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers describing the car as a great value for those seeking a sporty and enjoyable driving experience. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the car feels composed and assured in everyday driving, which supports confidence over time.

BMW includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is depreciation and the possibility that a premium repair bill can outweigh the car’s strong day-to-day appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual car. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has optional equipment or a higher-mileage service history. Focus on overall condition, signs of curb rash or interior wear, and whether the car’s features match the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 430i is available with Sport or M Sport styling, while the M440i adds an M Performance design with a partial or full blacked-out Shadowline trim treatment. The base 430i can feel stripped in some respects because BMW reserves certain upgrades for the M440i.
• Powertrain: The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed Sport automatic is standard, and BMW says the 430i can reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe. It includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 430i does not get the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package.
• Infotainment: Standard Live Cockpit Professional pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The 430i returned 25.3 mpg on the evaluation loop, and BMW quotes 28 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 430i and M440i.

Here's the short version:

• 430i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 4 Series experience without stretching to the pricier model. It delivers the strong turbocharged four-cylinder, standard iDrive 7, wireless smartphone integration, and the full standard safety suite.
• M440i: Choose this if you want the more upscale and better-equipped version, especially because BMW reserves some desirable features for it, including adaptive cruise control and the available Driving Assistance Professional Package. It also adds more premium tech and convenience content, but it costs more.

The 430i gets the standard safety package, while the M440i is the trim that opens the door to the more advanced driver-assistance options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 842 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,209, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $35,341 sits slightly below last year's $37,310.

That decline suggests the model has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help a future seller if you buy at the right price. The current market still shows meaningful demand, but the softer pricing trend means you should not expect the car to hold value as strongly as some rivals.

If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you can improve your odds of a stronger resale outcome. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. BMW also includes driver monitoring, post-collision braking, front and rear parking sensors, and connected emergency services.

The lane-keeping assistance is a particular strength, and the system reacts quickly when you drift out of your lane. The main caveat is that the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is reserved for the M440i, so the 430i misses out on adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 returns after a one-year hiatus, giving it a fresh place in BMW’s lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,834, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,341 average.
• It offers a redesigned, more dramatic look with coupe and convertible body styles.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year return of the Gran Coupe with stronger market availability, the 2022 is the better starting point. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
