Used 2022 BMW 2 Series for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2022 BMW 2 Series cost?

Prices have softened 10.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 651 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 2 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

The 2 Series is positioned as a redesigned entry-level luxury car with a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and more performance than seems reasonable for a subcompact. It also brings impressive technology and standard advanced safety features, which makes it appealing if you want a small luxury car with modern equipment.

The trade-offs are clear: the manual transmission is gone, the back seat is cramped, and the driving experience is described as disconnected. That means it fits you best if you value style, tech, and compact-luxury performance more than driver engagement or rear-seat space.

31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is described as a redesigned model with more power and more performance than its size suggests, and it was positioned as a replacement for the discontinued BMW 1 Series. That combination points to a car built to feel substantial for its class, while still serving as an entry point into BMW ownership.

Its performance tuning is focused on smooth, quick operation, with an eight-speed Sport automatic and standard paddle shifters. The infotainment system also supports over-the-air updates, which is a useful ownership perk for keeping software current.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a feature-rich luxury car can become more expensive to keep satisfying if prior maintenance or option choices were neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of the interior, electronics, and any signs of prior damage or heavy wear. Because this is a compact luxury car with a lot of standard tech and safety equipment, you’ll want to confirm that every feature works as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 230i Coupe is the more accessible choice, while the M240i xDrive Coupe adds more performance-oriented styling and hardware. The base 230i can be optioned with similar styling features, but the M240i xDrive standard equipment is richer.
• Powertrain: The 230i Coupe uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the M240i xDrive Coupe uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 hp and 369 lb-ft. The eight-speed Sport automatic is the only transmission.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and speed limit information. Standard safety equipment also includes a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: A standard 8.8-inch touchscreen is paired with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, cloud-based navigation, real-time traffic updates, and a WiFi 4G LTE hotspot. A 10.25-inch display is available, and the optional Live Cockpit Professional adds a 12.3-inch fully digital display.
• Fuel efficiency: No MPG figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 230i Coupe, M240i xDrive Coupe, 228i sDrive, and 228i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 230i Coupe: This is the best-value starting point if you want the redesigned look, strong standard tech, and the core BMW coupe experience without paying for the more expensive performance model.
• M240i xDrive Coupe: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version, with the turbo-six, standard M-style hardware, and the richest standard equipment.
• 228i sDrive: This is the base four-door choice if you want the Gran Coupe body style and a front-wheel-drive setup.
• 228i xDrive: Pick this if you want the four-door Gran Coupe with all-wheel drive.

The safety package centers on Active Driving Assistant, and standard equipment includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, speed limit information, a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 2 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 651 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,886, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $24,886 sits slightly below last year's $27,896.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Because the model is still drawing interest and has a strong satisfaction score, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 2 Series is equipped with Active Driving Assistant, and it earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

That suite includes active blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and speed limit information. Standard safety equipment also includes a rearview camera, park distance control, and adaptive cruise control.

You can also add adaptive front LED headlights, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view, and BMW Drive Recorder. The provided data does not include crash-test ratings, so the safety picture here is based on the standard equipment list and expert assessment.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Redesigned for 2022, it brings a refreshed look, larger proportions, increased power, and more performance than seems reasonable for a subcompact.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,341, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,886 average.
• It offers multiple body styles in a compact, entry-level BMW package.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger standard equipment, and better market pricing than last year, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
