Is the 2022 Acura RDX a good car?

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you want to confirm that the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and ride quality are all working as intended. Focus on overall condition, since the RDX’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and how cleanly its technology operates.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the base model plus Technology, A-Spec, Advance, A-Spec Advance, and the limited-production PMC Edition. The base model is the most stripped-down version, while higher packages add more upscale materials, quieter cabin tuning, and more equipment.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base, Technology, and A-Spec packages, while SH-AWD is standard on Advance and A-Spec Advance and available on some lower packages.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 10.2-inch display with a touchpad controller. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Amazon Alexa Built-in, a wireless charging pad, satellite radio, and AcuraLink connected services with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Navigation starts with the Technology package.
• Fuel efficiency: The evaluation loop returned 20.6 mpg, and the vehicle is described as having an EPA fuel economy rating of 23 mpg.

Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base model: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core RDX experience with the turbocharged engine, standard driver-assistance tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the basic audio setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live without the extra luxury and convenience features found higher up.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation and a stronger 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system while keeping the RDX’s core strengths intact. If you want a more complete luxury experience without jumping too far in price, this is the trim to target.
• A-Spec: This trim leans more into style and a sportier presentation, building on the base equipment with a more distinctive look. It suits you if appearance matters and you want a more expressive version of the RDX without moving all the way to the top of the range.
• Advance: This is the comfort-focused upgrade, adding the adaptive-damping suspension and standard SH-AWD. It’s the right choice if you want the most polished ride and the most upscale everyday feel.
• A-Spec Advance: This combines the sportier appearance of A-Spec with the richer equipment of Advance, including the 10.5-inch head-up display and the 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D audio system. It’s the most fully featured mainstream version if you want the most equipment and don’t mind paying for it.

The Technology package is the best-value choice for most buyers, while Advance is the one to prioritize if ride quality and standard SH-AWD matter most. The Technology package and higher also bring the parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make a good purchase possible.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,792 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,063, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $31,280 sits slightly below last year's $33,286.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the RDX is holding value reasonably well, but not appreciating. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?

The 2022 RDX earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and rollover resistance ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

One caveat is that the IIHS ratings for this model year had not yet been published in the source data, so the hoped-for Top Safety Pick+ result is not confirmed there. In testing, the lane-keeping and lane-centering systems also showed some false warnings and unnecessary steering corrections in challenging conditions.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a quieter cabin, added equipment, and refined ride and handling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,368, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,280 average.
• It emphasizes modern styling, practical luxury, and a rethought infotainment system.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,872, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,280 average.
• It offers strong performance, high comfort, and broad everyday appeal.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the refreshed cabin, quieter ride, and strong value balance. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the smarter budget path; if you want to spend more for a newer-year alternative, the 2023 is the natural step up.
