How much does the 2022 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 9.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,563 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Acura MDX earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise the handling, interior quality, and spaciousness, and they also like the comfort and overall aesthetics. The MDX’s blend of luxury and practicality comes through clearly in owner feedback, especially for shoppers who want a three-row SUV that feels polished without losing everyday usefulness.

The main trade-offs are the infotainment system and some feature omissions, and the third row is cramped. That means you should expect a strong driving experience and upscale cabin feel, but not the most generous rear-seat packaging.

The MDX’s 37.7% good-or-great deal rate suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a reliable, dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the MDX as a vehicle they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes a solid, quality feel and a powertrain that works smoothly with the transmission, which supports confidence in day-to-day use.

The cost-effectiveness review also describes the MDX as a complete luxury package that should deliver reliable, elegant, fun transportation for up to seven passengers. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin wear, electronics, and how well the third row and cargo area have held up. Since owner feedback mentions technology complaints and some feature omissions, make sure the equipment on the specific vehicle matches what you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX uses 19-inch wheels, while Tech and above move to 20-inch wheels. The base model also gets Premium Audio, while Tech and higher trims add more upscale equipment and features.
• Powertrain: The MDX uses a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base MDX and Tech, while SH-AWD is optional on those trims and standard on the others.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, and traffic-jam assist.
• Infotainment: All models get a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, a WiFi hotspot, and OTA updates. Navigation is standard on Tech and above.
• Fuel efficiency: The MDX uses a gasoline V6, but no MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech Package, A-Spec Package, Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MDX experience with the V6, 10-speed automatic, AcuraWatch, and the standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable skipping some of the richer convenience and audio upgrades.
• Tech Package: This is the best-value choice because it adds navigation and the stronger ELS Studio audio setup while keeping the MDX’s balanced character intact. It’s the trim to target if you want the sweet spot between price, equipment, and everyday usability.
• A-Spec Package: This is the sportiest-looking version, and it adds more visual attitude along with the higher-end audio and convenience content tied to the upper trims. Choose it if style matters more to you than value.
• Advance Package: This is the luxury-focused choice, with the most upscale equipment and the most comfort-oriented presentation. It suits you best if you want the most premium MDX experience and are willing to pay for it.

AcuraWatch is standard on all MDX models, so you get the core safety suite no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,563 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,873, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $33,873 sits slightly below last year's $37,401.

That price movement suggests the MDX has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. For a future seller, that matters because a lower entry price can reduce the amount of value left to lose over the next ownership cycle.

The MDX’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand in the used market. Shoppers tend to respond well to vehicles that combine luxury, practicality, and a good driving experience, and that can make resale easier when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX hasn’t yet received released crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The AcuraWatch suite is standard on all MDX models, and it includes collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, and traffic-jam assist. The MDX also adds low-speed braking control, which can automatically brake if needed in tight traffic situations.

A caveat to keep in mind is that the official crash-test results were not yet released in the source material, so you should look for updated ratings before buying if crash performance is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, new design, and a more modern fourth-generation feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,496, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,873 average.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it already offers the fresh redesign, strong owner satisfaction, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for added ownership perks and connected services, the 2023 is the better fit for you.
