About 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
The hybrid version of the Toyota Corolla compact sedan was introduced in 2020 and carries over unchanged for 2021. Though few auto manufacturers have as much mainstream hybrid experience as Toyota, notable competitors include the Honda Insight and Hyundai Ioniq. Outside, the Corolla Hybrid just looks like a Corolla, which is pretty much the point. There are a few subtle differences up front, but you’d have to look hard to find them. Otherwise, the Corolla Hybrid blends in nicely. LED daytime-running lights and 15-inch alloy wheels come standard. This hybrid sedan comfortably seats five, with a spacious cabin and quality materials. Though the design is fairly basic, it gets the job done. The Corolla Hybrid comes with one powertrain, a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This setup has a 121-horsepower rating. Toyota uses tech like regenerative braking, low-resistance tires, EV-only mode, and selectable driving modes to further enhance fuel economy, resulting in ratings of 53 city, 52 highway, and 53 combined. The Corolla Hybrid LE, the sole trim, features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite radio, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, a WiFi hotspot, Siri Eyes Free, and keyless start. The 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid hasn’t yet been fully tested, but the 2020 model earned a five-star overall rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). From the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2020 Corolla Hybrid earned top Good scores in six crash tests and a Top Safety Pick rating. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. If you want a small hybrid sedan that looks and feels like a normal car, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid is one of your best bets.
