That kind of response suggests you can count on the model to deliver the core Tesla experience buyers expect, especially if you prioritize a well-kept example. What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Tesla Model S?

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2021 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $45,970 sits slightly below last year's $46,168.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value without worrying about sharp swings. Strong demand for this model’s performance and technology should also help support buyer interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

If you want the refreshed version with the newer interior, upgraded hardware, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you’ll be trading away some of the 2021’s update-driven appeal.
