CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 927 currently listed for sale and an average price of $37,239, 38.1% of 2021 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Porsche Macan 4.5 / 5 stars.
85.7% of 2021 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Porsche Macan stands out because it blends Porsche-style driving character with the practicality of a compact SUV. It is a five-seater with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, and its sleek, coupe-like shape gives it a sportier look than many rivals. That same shape also means it is not especially spacious inside, so buyers get a premium feel and sharp road manners rather than class-leading room.
By 2021, the Macan had already received a major update for the 2019 model year, which brought a sharper front-end design, a full-width rear light bar, a redesigned dashboard, and a next-generation infotainment system with a larger touchscreen. The range also had more power than before, and the Macan’s equipment list was strong, with features such as electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate. For this model year, Apple CarPlay compatibility and LED headlights were standard, and Porsche’s long options list meant buyers could still tailor the car with items like air suspension, ceramic brakes, a panoramic roof, and a Burmester premium audio system.
What makes the 2021 Macan especially appealing is the way it combines performance, luxury, and a strong reliability record. It is widely praised for being fast and fun to drive, with a high-quality interior and good dependability. The main trade-offs are familiar ones: rear-seat space is below average, some rivals feel newer, and higher-powered versions can return low mpg.

Impressed. Made over 800 miles from WI to MD to pick up this baby and have no complains. Drives good, feels good, and looks good. It's been impeccably well maintained by it's first owner which is really a plus. Love my Macan so far.

Feels just as safe as expensive. Perfect to go around with children. Beautiful, elegant machine, but it's a Porsche so just expected. Very happy so far, especially after getting rid of my E-550 Benz that was killing me with gas bills!

Is the 2021 Porsche Macan reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its comfort and smooth driving character. That combination suggests the Macan can be a reassuring choice if you want a premium SUV you can count on over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been well maintained and properly inspected before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Porsche Macan?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then confirm the car’s condition with a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the vehicle has been used hard or maintained inconsistently. Because this model is positioned as a premium performance SUV, condition matters as much as mileage when you evaluate a used example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Porsche Macan?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 917 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.19% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 85.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $37,539, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $37,539 sits slightly below last year's $40,016.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you improve your odds of holding value better than average. Demand should remain supported by the Macan’s premium image and strong owner satisfaction.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.19% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $45,590, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,539 average.
- It adds a fresher update as Porsche prepares an electric replacement.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter primary path because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid deal availability. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a fresher update, the 2022 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize that extra step up in price and freshness.
