When it comes to getting things done, there’s almost no better tool than a good van. Mercedes-Benz knows this fact, and it has refined its Sprinter van offerings over the years with new tech, comfort, and safety features to lure in commercial customers and van-lifers alike.

The Sprinter can be configured in a number of ways, two of which are the Crew and Passenger vans. Passenger models are available in two wheelbase lengths, and with either a standard or extended roof height. Crew vans are available in similar configurations, but all models come standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine that produces 188 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Payload varies by model, but most Sprinters can tow up to 5,000 pounds. A six-cylinder diesel is available, and when equipped, can be paired with four-wheel drive (4WD).

People-carrying is the name of the game, and on that front, the Sprinter offers a few options. Crew models can haul five passengers, while the Passenger model can lug a dozen people to and fro. Mercedes made an effort to improve comfort and safety in its vans, which results in standard features such as active brake assist, blind-spot monitoring, a driver-attention assist system, and a 360-degree camera system.

Vans aren’t known for being heavy on technology, but the Sprinter twins are available with a few creature comforts. A 7-inch touchscreen is optional and features voice controls. The vans can be outfitted with wireless charging and navigation. A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen is also on offer.

Since many Sprinter vans will end up in the hands of fleet operators, cost efficiency and reliability are key. Mercedes offers an extended warranty that spans up to five years or 100,000 miles and says that its vans have a 15,000-mile service interval to keep them on the road and out of the shop for extended periods of time.

Depending on how the van will be used, Mercedes offers several upfit options to make them more helpful. The Sprinter can be customized with equipment for electricians, plumbers, taxi and transport drivers, and more. This includes an extension of the Passenger van to seat up to 15 people.

The 2021 Sprinter vans start around $43,000 and reach almost $60,000 before any additional upfits or customizations are offered. All models are on sale now.
