Italian for “four-door,” the Maserati Quattroporte name dates back to 1963. The current sixth generation of this large luxury sedan was introduced in 2013. For the 2021 model year, the Quattroporte gains a new infotainment system, wireless charging capability, and a new high-performance Trofeo trim.

Trims for the Quattroporte are S, GranLusso, GranSport, and the new Trofeo. Standard features on the S include 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, a power sunroof, and the Skyhook performance suspension with electronic damping. Inside, the S comes standard with heated front seats, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system. The new standard 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen replaces the previous 8.4-inch screen. It comes standard with navigation, an advanced voice assistant, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The GranLusso trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, black-painted brake calipers with white “Maserati” lettering, and additional chrome grille inserts. Inside, the GranLusso adds heated-and-ventilated front seats and silk-and-leather upholstery by Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna. The GranSport has unique performance-inspired front-and-rear fascias. It also includes red-painted brake calipers and 12-way power-adjustable sport front seats.

The Quattroporte S, S Q4, GranLusso, and GranSport all come equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter, Ferrari-derived V6 engine. It generates 424 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, or to all-wheel drive (AWD) in the case of the S Q4. The S can hit 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, while the S Q4 will do the same sprint in 4.8 seconds.

The Trofeo is highlighted by its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine (also Ferrari-derived). It puts out 580 hp and 524 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. More than an incredibly powerful engine, the Trofeo includes a limited-slip differential and a “Corsa” drive mode. It also features a launch mode, allowing it to rocket from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. The Trofeo can also be optioned with carbon fiber paddle shifters and door sills.

All versions of the Quattroporte come standard with lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Quattroporte is also available with adaptive cruise control.

Base MSRP for the 2021 Maserati Quattroporte is $104,185 and the all-wheel-drive S Q4 starts at $108,685. The S GranLusso and GranSport both start at $111,185. The range-topping Trofeo clocks in at $148,085.
