Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?

Yes — with a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, this model year lands in strong territory for shoppers who want a luxury SUV with real versatility. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport blends luxury with genuine off-road ability, while still delivering composed, dynamic on-road handling. That makes it a strong fit if you want an opulent SUV that can handle more than commuting and highway duty. The trade-offs are clear: the technology can be unintuitive, and cargo space is limited when the third row is in use.

There are 36.9% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you can still find attractive pricing if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport is presented as a well-rounded luxury SUV with broad capability, and its expert evaluation emphasizes strong on-road composure alongside serious off-road talent. Its powertrain lineup is wide, which can help you choose a version that better matches your needs. The performance notes also point to a vehicle that is capable off the beaten path and stable on pavement.

For ownership, the main risk is that a used example may bring the usual complexity and upkeep concerns that come with a high-end, capability-focused SUV, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or heavily optioned example. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends on both luxury features and mechanical capability. If you plan to use the third row, check cargo practicality carefully before you buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE trim includes leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker Meridian premium sound system, a WiFi hotspot, and the dual-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add features such as quad-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 19-speaker Meridian sound system, refrigerated center console, power soft-close doors, and 22-way power-adjustable front seats.
• Powertrain: The base P360 mild-hybrid setup uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt electrical system and makes 355 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Other options include a more potent P400 version, a plug-in hybrid, a diesel, and V8 powertrains.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and front-and-rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert require extra cost.
• Infotainment: The dual-screen center console uses an upper infotainment display and a lower screen for climate and vehicle settings. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also has a real volume button.
• Fuel efficiency: Mild-hybrid models return 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The plug-in hybrid gets 42 MPGe combined and 19 miles of electric range in electric mode.

Which 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, HSE Silver, HST, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography, SVR, and SVR Carbon Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, the dual-screen infotainment setup, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a WiFi hotspot. It makes sense if you want the Range Rover Sport experience without chasing expensive extras.
• HSE Silver: This trim adds quad-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 19-speaker Meridian sound system. It looks like the best-value choice if you want a richer luxury experience without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• HST: This version keeps much of the HSE Silver equipment but upgrades the powertrain and swaps in tri-zone climate control. It suits you if you want more performance without moving all the way to the V8 models.
• HSE Dynamic: This trim is defined by its supercharged V8 engine, plus a limited-slip differential and a two-speed transfer case. It’s the pick if you want stronger performance and more serious hardware.
• Autobiography: This is where the cabin gets more upscale, with 22-way power-adjustable front seats, power soft-close doors, and many optional features from lower trims. It fits you best if luxury is your top priority.
• SVR: This performance model adds a more powerful V8, performance-oriented front-and-rear sport seats, and a stiffer suspension. Choose it if you want the most aggressive driving character.
• SVR Carbon Edition: This version builds on the SVR with carbon fiber accents and 22-inch alloy wheels. It’s the most distinctive choice if you want the top-end performance look.

Standard driver assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and front-and-rear parking sensors, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert cost extra.

If you find a listing below $32,626, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?

The current average of $32,626 sits slightly below last year's $39,621.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy at the right price, you may have less depreciation risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The model’s broad appeal and luxury positioning can still support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Range Rover Sport comes equipped with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and front-and-rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard, so you’ll want to check carefully if the specific used example includes the driver-assistance features you want. Available extras also include a surround-view parking camera, traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness monitoring, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and a head-up display.

Should I buy a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year combines luxury, off-road ability, and composed on-road handling in one package.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,912, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,626 average.
• It emphasizes plug-in hybrid efficiency and traditional Range Rover Sport capability.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest all-around mix of capability, luxury, and current-market value, the 2021 is the better default choice. If your budget is tighter and you’re especially interested in the earlier plug-in hybrid angle, the 2020 can be the more affordable path.
