How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 11.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,270 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and impressive power. The review summary also points to off-road capability, advanced technology features, and a luxury feel.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underwhelming, and some owners felt it lacked certain tech features for the price. In context, this is the outgoing two-row Grand Cherokee for buyers who want the older formula rather than the redesigned 2022 version.

With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback describes it as a vehicle people can count on for a spacious cabin, smooth ride, and strong overall satisfaction. The review summary also points to a good value proposition for many shoppers, even if some mention gas mileage concerns.

The expert review adds that Jeep’s ownership program includes free scheduled maintenance for the first three years and 36,000 miles. That helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to offset age-related wear and fuel-economy drawbacks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model’s safety record varies by test and drivetrain, condition and equipment matter more than a quick glance at the listing photos.

Pay close attention to whether the trim you’re considering includes the safety and convenience features you want, since some equipment is not standard across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans the affordable Laredo and Limited, the upscale Overland and Summit, the Trailhawk for serious off-roading, and the SRT and Trackhawk performance models. The base trims are the most value-focused, while higher trims add a more premium cabin and more equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 295 horsepower and pairs with an eight-speed automatic. An optional 5.7-liter V8 adds more power and towing ability, but it also brings worse fuel economy.
• Safety package: The ProTech II Package includes adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some safety features are not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect 4C with Nav system includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Amazon Alexa integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is described as returning no more than 17 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, Trailhawk, and 80th Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee’s style and core capability at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you care more about the SUV’s overall character than about loading up on luxury features.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and equipment without pushing you into the pricier luxury end of the lineup.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road ability is a priority, since it is the trim aimed at serious trail use.
• Overland: This is the step up if you want a more upscale feel and more premium features without going all the way to the top.
• Summit: This is the luxury pick, with the richest cabin materials and the most premium presentation.
• 80th Anniversary Edition: This is the commemorative choice if you want a special-edition version with added distinction.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check the equipment list carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still act quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,270 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,750, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $21,750 sits slightly below last year's $24,645.

That decline suggests the model has already moved through a meaningful portion of its depreciation curve. For a future seller, that can be a mixed signal: you may not see rapid appreciation, but the current pricing also means the market has already adjusted downward.

Because the model still draws strong interest from shoppers who want style, capability, and a premium feel, demand should remain steady if your vehicle is well kept. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA in 4WD form, while 2WD versions drop to four stars overall with a three-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard ProTech II Package includes adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. Jeep also includes a backup camera with guidance lines, parking sensors, and ParkSense parking assistance.

The main caveat is the IIHS performance: the Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating for the driver and a Poor rating for the front passenger in small-overlap frontal testing, and its headlights also rate Poor unless you upgrade.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 is the outgoing two-row Grand Cherokee, so you get the familiar formula before the redesign arrives.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,802, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,750 average.
• It’s a tenth-year model that still offers broad versatility and strong style.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,057, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,750 average.
• It brings a redesigned cabin with a meaningful step up in technology and sophistication.

The bottom line: If you want the older Grand Cherokee formula at a lower price, the 2021 is the sweet spot. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2020 is the value play; if you want the newer design and tech, move up to the 2022.
