CarGurus Analysis: 2021 INFINITI Q50
overall

Summary
With 379 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,735.00, 24.8% of 2021 INFINITI Q50s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.
59.4% of 2021 Q50 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a sports sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, even as age shows through in its technology and overall value. Infiniti’s own test-drive notes describe it as a car that “defies age, but still shows flaws,” which fits the Q50’s appeal: it looks and feels sporty, but it is no longer the freshest choice in its class. The available trim lineup includes Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400, and buyers can choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
For 2021, Infiniti kept the changes modest. The updates are limited to a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. That makes the Q50 feel more current than before, but the broader impression remains one of a sedan that has been around for a while. Its strengths are clear in the test-drive data: stylish design, a powerful engine, and multiple powertrain options. Owner feedback reinforces that performance-first character, with praise for the powerful driving experience and the 400-horsepower engine.
At the same time, the Q50’s drawbacks are just as visible. The test-drive data calls out a cramped back seat, poor value for money, and outdated technology. That mix helps define the 2021 INFINITI Q50: it is appealing if you want a handsome, quick luxury sedan with a sporty personality, but it asks buyers to accept compromises in space, tech, and overall freshness.

Love my Q50 red sport. The power in this vehicle is amazing and perfect for the price! Still a luxury vehicle all while still being a sports car. Handling is amazing so happy with my purchase. The only thing I’m missing is my Apple car play. Which came after the 2019 models.

How much does the 2021 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,542 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,567.15 |
| Year-Round High | $24,905.04 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,857 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.34% |
Prices have softened 13.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 387 listings available, which suggests you still have room to compare options before you commit.
If you find a listing below $21,567.15, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners repeatedly praise the powerful performance, the classy interior, and the sporty handling and ride quality. The 400-horsepower engine also comes through as a major draw, especially if you want a sedan that feels quick and engaging.
The trade-offs are just as clear: outdated technology and a lack of features like Apple CarPlay in earlier models come up often, and some owners wish for better cabin noise levels. That lines up with the Q50’s role as a stylish, performance-first luxury sedan rather than the most modern or polished choice in the segment.
With the Q50 positioned as a sporty luxury sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, the 19.1% share of good or great deals suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a car that feels powerful, classy, and enjoyable to drive over time, with the 400HP engine and sporty handling standing out as recurring positives. That kind of feedback matters because it suggests many owners feel confident living with the car beyond the first few years.
The expert notes also reinforce a durable, confidence-inspiring driving character, with the chassis described as solid on the highway and the twin-turbo V6 delivering strong, consistent performance. Infiniti’s warranty coverage also helps support ownership peace of mind.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Q50’s age shows up in its technology and overall refinement, so condition and maintenance history matter more than they would on a newer rival.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or steering issues. Because the Q50’s appeal depends so much on its sporty feel and premium presentation, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Pure and Luxe models are the more basic versions, while the higher trims add more upscale touches; the base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with a seven-speed automatic, with 300 horsepower in most versions and 400 hp in the Red Sport 400.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system are added on the Luxe trim.
- Infotainment: The system uses 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens, and it includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
- Fuel efficiency: Most rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined, while AWD versions are rated at 22 mpg combined. The Red Sport 400 is rated at 22 mpg combined with RWD and loses 1 mpg in the city with AWD.
Which 2021 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400.
Here's the short version:
- Pure: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Q50’s core strengths at the lowest price, but it’s also the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the others.
- Luxe: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key safety upgrades you’re most likely to want, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system.
- Sensory: This trim adds a more upscale feel and brings in the 16-speaker Bose audio system, so it suits you if comfort and cabin experience matter more than chasing the cheapest price.
- Red Sport 400: This is the performance pick, with the 400-horsepower version of the twin-turbo V6, red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, and a sportier appearance package.
The safety-package step up on the Luxe trim is the key trim-level note to keep in mind if you want the most useful everyday equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.
- Deal availability: 19.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 387 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,567.15, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $21,542 sits slightly below last year's $24,857.
That decline suggests the Q50 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be good news if you’re buying now and less ideal if you’re planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the upside is that the car’s lower entry price may help keep it attractive to value-focused shoppers.
The Q50’s strong owner satisfaction and performance-first appeal should help it retain some demand, especially among buyers who want a sporty luxury sedan without paying new-car money. Still, its dated technology and mixed value perception can limit how quickly it rebounds in the market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 safe?
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but “Average” and “Marginal” ratings for headlights. At the time of publication, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hadn’t released full safety ratings for the 2021 Q50, only showing five stars in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, but you have to upgrade from the base Q50 Pure trim level to the Q50 Luxe to get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. The Luxe trim also adds an Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system.
Q50 models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control, which helps keep the car centered in its lane. The main caveat is the headlight performance, which trails the rest of the crash-test results.
Should I buy a 2021 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 19.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 update adds a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this long-running Q50 formula, the 2021 is the one to target because it adds useful updates without changing the car’s core character. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2021 gives you the best mix of updated equipment and softened pricing.
