Used 2021 Honda HR-V for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2021 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,320 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda HR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and value for money, and they also like its practical size and useful feature set. The overview points to the same strengths: agile handling, impressive practicality for its size, and an easy-to-live-with driving experience. The main trade-offs are its lack of power and outdated technology, with visibility also called out as a drawback.

With 32.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively if you want the right combination of condition and price.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability, and drivers also describe it as a practical choice they can count on for everyday use. The expert notes reinforce that dependable, easy-to-live-with character by emphasizing comfort, solid value, and a straightforward ownership experience. Honda’s three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty also support the case for predictable ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with an older design that can feel dated if you want modern tech and stronger performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

At 67.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. Because visibility is a known drawback and some trims have different equipment levels, it also makes sense to focus on how the car feels in daily use, not just on the odometer. If you’re comparing multiple listings, pay close attention to condition, equipment, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the base trim, and it misses fog lights, push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The EX and EX-L add a more upscale feel with push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, and heated front seats, while the EX-L adds leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: The HR-V uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, AWD is available on all trim levels, and higher trims add paddle shifters. The setup is efficient and easy to live with, but it can feel underpowered on the highway.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims. It includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch. The base LX does not get that suite.
• Infotainment: The LX gets a 5-inch display screen, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker audio system. The Sport and higher trims upgrade to a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the EX and EX-L add SiriusXM satellite radio. The screen is still relatively small by modern standards.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 30 mpg combined, 28 mpg city, and 34 mpg highway. AWD models are rated at 29 mpg combined, 27 mpg city, and 31 mpg highway in LX trim, and 28 mpg combined, 26 mpg city, and 31 mpg highway in Sport, EX, and EX-L spec.

Which 2021 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda HR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the HR-V, but it’s also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet you miss out on the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Honda Sensing. It makes sense only if price is your top priority.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the more appealing exterior treatment and added privacy glass. If you want the most useful tech without stretching too far, this is the trim to target.
• EX: This is the sweet spot if you want the safety and convenience upgrades. It adds Honda Sensing, push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, and SiriusXM, making it the most balanced choice for many used buyers.
• EX-L: This is the most upscale version, adding leather upholstery on top of the EX equipment. It’s the right pick if you want the most comfort and premium feel the HR-V offers.

Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims, so those are the trims to focus on if driver-assistance features matter most to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

The market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,320 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,434, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $19,244 sits slightly below last year's $19,589.

That decline suggests the HR-V has softened a bit in the used market, which can work in your favor if you’re buying now. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with the right equipment should still attract steady interest because the model’s practicality and value remain part of its appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V safe?

The HR-V received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, and the top “Superior” rating for its optional front-crash prevention tech, but got “Marginal” and “Poor” headlight ratings depending on trim level, plus an “Acceptable” rating for LATCH child-seat anchor ease of use. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch. The catch is that it’s standard only on the EX and EX-L trims, so lower trims miss out on that full package.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model carries over the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L trims with only minor changes, so you’re shopping a familiar formula rather than a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want a small SUV that emphasizes practicality, comfort, and value, the 2021 HR-V is a sensible used buy. The EX is the best all-around choice if you want the safety and convenience features, while the Sport is the better pick if you’re trying to keep costs down but still want modern infotainment. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a clean LX or Sport can still make sense, but you should be deliberate about checking equipment and condition.
