How much does the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD cost?

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is the user rating, and that lines up with the Sierra 3500HD’s strong appeal as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious work capability with a more polished feature set. It was offered in a wide range of cab, bed, and rear-axle configurations, and it brings useful tech such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with available safety features that make it easier to live with than a purely utilitarian pickup. If you need maximum towing and hauling capability without giving up comfort and convenience entirely, this model year fits that use case well. Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Sierra 3500HD’s appeal comes from its combination of serious capability and available equipment that helps it feel more modern, including a new jack-knife alert system for this model year. Its broad configuration choices and available safety tech also suggest a truck designed to handle demanding use without feeling stripped down. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is buying a hard-worked example, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you should prioritize a thorough inspection of the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and towing-related hardware. Focus on overall condition, signs of commercial or towing abuse, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it. A clean history report is important, but a careful pre-purchase inspection is just as valuable on a truck built for hard work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 682 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,602, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $51,604 sits slightly below last year's $55,403.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give buyers more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The Sierra 3500HD’s strong capability and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-equipped and well-kept examples. Trucks with the right configuration and clean history are likely to hold buyer interest better than neglected or heavily used examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2021 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with serious towing and hauling ability, a polished feature set, and a market that still offers some negotiating room. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2021 stands out as a balanced pick when you want capability and comfort in the same package.
