Used 2021 Ford F-150 for Sale near California

How much does the 2021 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 7.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,803 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and configurations.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford F-150 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, modern technology, and excellent ride comfort. They also like the fuel efficiency of the smaller engines and the truck’s versatility, which makes it appealing whether you need a commuter, work truck, or family hauler.

The main trade-offs are that pricing can feel high and some trims could use better features such as front parking sensors. The overview also points to a truck that keeps its familiar styling while adding more convenience features and a hybrid option, so you get a broad, flexible lineup rather than a single one-size-fits-all setup.

Good and great deals account for 32.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, versatile, and efficient in smaller-engine configurations, which are all traits that usually support confidence over time. The expert notes also emphasize good road manners and user-friendly tech, both of which matter when you plan to keep a truck for years.

Ford’s warranty coverage includes a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-option trucks can be expensive to maintain and repair if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford F-150?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks wear, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing or hauling. Focus on condition and equipment level, because the F-150’s wide range of trims and options can make two similarly priced trucks feel very different.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Materials vary from spartan in the base XL trim level to much more luxurious in King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited, so base-trim trucks can feel noticeably simpler inside.
• Powertrain: You get a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8, two EcoBoost V6s, a Power Stroke diesel V6, and the PowerBoost hybrid; the hybrid is the most powerful, but it is not the best value.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams, while lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist cost extra.
• Infotainment: Sync 4 brings an 8-inch standard touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates; a 12-inch screen is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerBoost hybrid returns 25 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 24 mpg combined with four-wheel drive, while the Power Stroke diesel is rated at 27 mpg highway with 4WD.

Which 2021 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most basic work-truck choice, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the richer cabin materials and extra convenience features found higher up the range.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more balanced mix of equipment, comfort, and price.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the luxury-focused trims.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into premium materials and a more distinctive cabin, making it a strong pick if you want a truck that feels special inside.
• Platinum: This is for shoppers who want a high-end truck with a more luxurious presentation.
• Limited: This is the top luxury-oriented choice if you want the most upscale version of the F-150 lineup.

Ford’s safety package is not standard across the lineup, so check carefully for the driver-assistance features you want on the specific truck you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,803 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,140, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $32,140 sits slightly below last year's $34,591.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help buyers now, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Because the truck still has strong demand, broad configurability, and a large pool of shoppers, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than more niche vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2021 F-150 earns a good roof-strength rating from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features under the Ford Co-Pilot360 banner include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available at extra cost. Ford also planned Active Drive Assist for later availability, with a prep kit on equipped trims and software added later for a fee.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 redesign adds more technology, a revamped interior, and the first F-150 hybrid.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,768, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,140 average.
• It balances everyday comfort with real work capability.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the newer redesign, more tech, and broader configuration choices. Consider the 2020 if your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer features and hybrid availability.
