Used 2021 Ford Expedition for Sale nearLos Angeles, CA

How much does the 2021 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 16.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,351 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford Expedition earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.0/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and strong performance, and they also like how easy it is to drive for such a large SUV. The review summary also points to helpful features like the 360 camera, which supports everyday usability.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and fuel economy is poor. That said, the Expedition fits you best if you want a full-size SUV that can tow, haul cargo, or carry passengers regularly, and 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and strong in daily use, with many reviewers describing it as easy to live with over time. The expert performance notes also reinforce that it delivers the kind of dependable capability you expect from a large SUV built for towing and hauling.

Ford’s maintenance and ownership messaging also emphasizes practical use, and the Expedition’s overall setup suggests it is built for long-term heavy-duty family or work duty. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about basic usefulness and more about keeping up with the costs that come with a large, powerful SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from size, mileage, and heavy-use duty, especially if the SUV was used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to overall condition, since large SUVs can hide expensive wear items behind a clean-looking exterior.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the XL STX and includes the XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum, with the Platinum positioned as the most luxurious version. The base setup can leave you wanting more if you care about upscale materials, and the cabin materials in the test vehicle still showed some hard plastic even at the top end.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or 4WD. Output is strong, and the SUV is built to tow and haul with confidence.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. More advanced features are not standard, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is limited to higher trims.
• Infotainment: The system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, FordPass Connect, an available 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and wireless smartphone charging. The screen is small by modern standards, and the interface can be slow at times.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the Expedition averaged 17.1 mpg on its evaluation loop, and EPA ratings put the 4WD version at 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Expedition is offered in 5 trim levels: XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL STX: This is the entry point, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about upscale features or broader equipment.
• XLT: This is the trim that makes the most sense for many shoppers because it gives you the core Expedition experience without pushing you into the highest price brackets.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim if you want access to more available tech and convenience features, including the higher-end safety and parking aids mentioned in the review.
• King Ranch: This trim is for you if you want a more premium-feeling Expedition with a stronger luxury lean.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with the richest presentation and the most upscale feel, but it is the least value-focused choice.

Starting with Limited trim, the Expedition offers an available adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go capability as well as a semi-autonomous parking assistance system that steers the SUV into and out of parking spaces.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,351 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,882, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $29,882 sits slightly below last year's $35,582.

That drop suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the Expedition easier to shop now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because this is a large SUV with strong utility appeal, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest from shoppers who need towing, cargo room, or passenger space. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition safe?

The Expedition earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, and with RWD its rollover-resistance rating is three stars; with 4WD, it earns four stars in that category.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. More advanced driver assistance is not standard, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is reserved for higher trims.

The main caveat is that IIHS crash testing was not performed, so you do not get that additional independent benchmark here.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a competitive, highly useful full-size SUV for towing, hauling, and carrying people.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,383, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $29,882 average.
• It emphasizes space, cargo room, and towing capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,312, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $29,882 average.
• It adds stronger style and more impressive technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and capability, the 2021 is the smart middle ground. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2020 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
