Used 2021 Ford Expedition for Sale nearIdaho Falls, ID

How much does the 2021 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 16.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,404 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford Expedition earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, comfort, and strong performance, and they also like how easy it is to drive and how helpful the 360 camera can be. For shoppers who need a full-size SUV for towing, hauling cargo, or carrying passengers, that lines up well with the Expedition’s use case. The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and fuel economy is poor. Even so, the market still shows 32.8% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and dependable in everyday use, with strong performance that owners can count on. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it is a practical, useful full-size SUV for regular towing, cargo hauling, and passenger duty. Ford’s maintenance coverage language is not included in the source data, so your best long-term ownership protection is to focus on service records, wear items, and how the SUV was used before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on tires, brakes, suspension, and any signs of heavy towing or family-hauling wear. Since this is a large SUV, condition matters a lot: look closely at the cabin, cargo area, and any features you expect to use regularly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the XL STX and includes the XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. The Platinum is the most luxurious version, while the extended-length MAX adds more cargo and passenger flexibility. Base-trim shoppers should pay attention to feature gaps versus higher trims, especially if you want more comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or 4WD. The engine makes 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque in most versions, while the Platinum gets 400 hp and 480 lb-ft. The SUV is built for towing and hauling, with capacity ranging from 9,000 pounds to 9,300 pounds.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Starting with Limited trim, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and semi-autonomous parking assistance are available, and a 360-degree surround-view camera is also available.
• Infotainment: The Expedition uses Sync 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen. It includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, FordPass Connect services, an available 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, Amazon Alexa compatibility, wireless smartphone charging, and an available dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition averaged 17.1 mpg on the evaluation loop, and EPA ratings say the 4WD version should get 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Expedition is offered in 5 trim levels: XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL STX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Expedition’s core space and towing ability at the lowest starting price. It is the trim to consider if you care most about utility and plan to add only the features you truly need.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits above the base model without jumping all the way to the luxury-focused upper trims. It also unlocks the FX4 Off-Road Package, which adds a two-speed transfer case, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, improved engine cooling, off-road shocks, skid plates, a fuel tank shield, and all-terrain tires.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want more convenience and safety tech, since adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and semi-autonomous parking assistance become available here. It is a smart middle ground if you want more equipment without going all the way to the top.
• King Ranch: This trim is for shoppers who want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it. It sits above the Limited and below the Platinum, so it makes sense if you want a richer experience without choosing the most expensive version.
• Platinum: This is the luxury choice, with the most upscale presentation and the strongest engine output in the lineup. It suits you best if comfort and premium feel matter more than value.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, but more advanced driver assistance is not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,404 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,158, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $30,158 sits slightly below last year's $35,916.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the SUV has been maintained. Because this model appeals to buyers who need space, towing strength, and passenger room, clean examples should still attract interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2021 Ford Expedition earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, and with RWD its rollover-resistance rating is three-star; with 4WD, it earns a four-star rating in this regard.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assistance, and a 360-degree surround-view camera are available starting with Limited trim. One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used listing you consider.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a practical, spacious, and capable full-size SUV for towing, hauling, and carrying passengers.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,788, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $30,158 average.
• It emphasizes space and capability with three rows, strong towing, and generous cargo room.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,703, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $30,158 average.
• It adds stronger styling appeal and more impressive technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current-market availability, the 2021 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 is the better price-sensitive alternative, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling package.
