How much does the 2021 Dodge Charger cost?

Is the 2021 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Dodge Charger earns a 4.8/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.83/10.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its power, performance, and fun-to-drive character, while also calling out the roomy cabin and everyday usefulness. The Charger’s broad appeal comes from its muscle-car personality paired with practical four-door packaging, which makes it work as both a spirited driver and a daily vehicle. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine, cramped back seat, and outdated technology.

With 29.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with owners describing it as a reliable, trouble-free choice that they can count on over the long term. The expert review also emphasizes that the Charger’s powertrain lineup is robust and that the car delivers its performance in a way that feels manageable in everyday driving. The cost-effectiveness review adds that the Charger’s historically weak predicted reliability rating is part of the ownership equation.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that satisfaction with the driving experience may not fully offset higher ownership costs if maintenance or repairs become a concern.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Charger?

At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or modified example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim level you expect. Because the Charger spans everything from basic V6 models to high-output V8 versions, it’s worth confirming that the car’s condition lines up with its asking price and performance level.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Charger lineup includes SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye. The base SXT comes with 17-inch wheels, while higher trims add more wheel choices, wider-body styling on some versions, and more upscale seating materials such as Nappa leather on the highest trims.
• Powertrain: The lineup ranges from a 3.6-liter V6 with up to 300 horsepower to a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 with 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. The V6 is the most fuel-efficient choice, while the highest-performance version is the least efficient.
• Safety package: Every new Charger comes standard with brake assist, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear park assist, rain brake support, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic headlights are available in some, but not all models.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, four USB ports, push-button start, and a rearview camera. Available upgrades include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, a WiFi hot spot, and premium audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The most fuel-efficient choice is the 3.6-liter V6, while the SRT Hellcat Redeye is rated at 12 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 15 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Charger is offered in 9 trim levels: Charger SXT, Charger SXT AWD, Charger GT, Charger GT AWD, Charger R/T, Charger Scat Pack, Charger Scat Pack Widebody, Charger SRT Hellcat, Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Here's the short version:

• Charger SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core personality at the lowest price. It’s the best-value starting point if you want the look, space, and V6 power without paying for the more expensive performance trims.
• Charger SXT AWD: Choose this if you want the same basic setup as the SXT but with all-wheel drive. It makes sense if traction matters more to you than keeping the price as low as possible.
• Charger GT: This is the better-value step up if you want a little more equipment and still want to stay in the lower-price part of the lineup. It keeps the Charger formula approachable while adding some extra polish.
• Charger GT AWD: Pick this if you want the GT’s added appeal plus all-wheel drive. It’s the right fit if you want a more secure-feeling daily driver without jumping into V8 territory.
• Charger R/T: This is the first trim that really leans into the Charger’s muscle-car identity with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8. If you want the classic V8 experience without going all the way to the high-dollar performance models, this is the sweet spot.
• Charger Scat Pack: This trim is the best-value choice for buyers who care most about performance. It brings the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 and a major jump in output, making it the strongest all-around pick for enthusiasts.
• Charger Scat Pack Widebody: Choose this if you want the Scat Pack’s performance with the wider-body look and stance. It’s the more aggressive choice for buyers who want the visual and dynamic upgrade.
• Charger SRT Hellcat: This is for buyers who want serious supercharged power and are willing to pay for it. It sits well above the mainstream trims and is aimed squarely at performance-first shoppers.
• Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye: This is the top-tier choice, with the most powerful engine in the lineup. It’s the one to buy if you want the most extreme Charger experience and price is secondary.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but several driver-assistance features remain optional rather than universal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,930 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,562, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $26,611 sits slightly below last year's $28,203.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, the current softness means resale value may depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained. Higher-performance versions may hold attention better, but the broader market still reflects a decline from last year’s pricing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Dodge Charger safe?

The 2021 Dodge Charger earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Charger’s standard safety equipment includes brake assist, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear park assist, rain brake support, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic headlights, but they are not standard across every trim. The IIHS has not crash-tested the 2021 model, though the structurally similar 2020 model received mostly Good ratings and Poor marks for headlights.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds a new track-ready variant that pushes the Hellcat V8 further.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,273, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,611 average.
• It blends sedan practicality with a performance-focused personality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,903, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $26,611 average.
• It adds incredible acceleration and easier-to-use technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, performance, and current-market availability, the 2021 is the primary year to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 is the better value play, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer take on the same formula.
