Used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale near New Mexico

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 13.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,144 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 6.7/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, the excellent driving experience, and the value for money. They also highlight the power it delivers and the impressive features on offer.

The trade-offs are poor handling and interior materials that can feel cheap, along with a value proposition that the experts describe as weak relative to rivals.

For you, that means the Traverse makes the most sense if you want a roomy three-row SUV with a comfort-first personality rather than sharp dynamics or upscale cabin polish.

Good and great deals account for 33.1% of listings, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable and trouble-free in the way it delivers space, comfort, and everyday usefulness, with a reputation for being easy to live with over time. The expert evaluation also points to a solid, comfortable highway character and a powertrain that feels capable when you need it.

Chevy includes a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps support early ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright failure and more about whether a given example has been maintained well and worn gently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 69.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on cabin condition and feature operation, since the Traverse’s equipment list can vary a lot by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from L to High Country, and the base L gets 18-inch wheels while higher trims can move to 20-inch wheels. Higher trims also bring more cosmetic differentiation, including blacked-out RS trim and chrome on High Country.
• Powertrain: You get one engine, a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It delivers strong highway passing power, though it can feel less eager off the line and the transmission can shift roughly at times.
• Safety package: Chevy offers a driver-assistance suite that can include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control is only available on High Country.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Higher trims can add an 8-inch screen, navigation, 4G-LTE WiFi hotspot, and a Bose 10-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Traverse gets 21 mpg combined with FWD, including 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. With AWD, it returns 20 mpg combined, including 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s mainly for shoppers who want the lowest price and are willing to give up the richer equipment and styling touches found higher up the range.
• LS: This is the first step up if you want a more balanced starting point without jumping too far in price.
• LT Cloth: This is the trim that makes the most sense for many buyers, since it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the lineup.
• LT Leather: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it.
• RS: This is the style-forward choice, with blacked-out trim and a sportier appearance.
• Premier: This is the better pick if you want more luxury-oriented equipment and a richer feature set.
• High Country: This is the top trim and the one to choose if you want the most equipment, including the most advanced available driver-assistance content.

Chevy’s safety tech is less standard than what you’ll find on some rivals, and adaptive cruise control is reserved for High Country.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,144 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,985, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $20,985 sits slightly below last year's $24,294.

That decline suggests the Traverse has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your eventual resale position.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse earns Good ratings in all IIHS crash tests and a Superior rating for front-crash prevention tech. It earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests, and five-star ratings in side-impact crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy offers a driver-assistance suite that can include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control is only available on High Country, so lower trims miss out on that feature.

The main caveat is that headlight performance varies by trim, with IIHS results ranging from Acceptable to Poor.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 keeps the Traverse’s roomy three-row packaging while delaying the 2022 updates.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,318, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $20,985 average.
• It adds updated styling and wireless smartphone connectivity.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core Traverse strengths at a lower average price. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2021 is the clear path; if you want the newer updates and can pay more, the 2022 is worth a look.
