How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,023 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, and advanced technology, and many also call out the comfortable ride and reliability. That lines up with the Tahoe’s use-case as a full-size SUV for family hauling, long trips, and buyers who want a roomy cabin with strong capability. The main trade-offs are the high price for basic models and some missing features that shoppers may expect in a new SUV. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident in the Tahoe over the long term. The expert review also describes the drivetrain as refined and effortlessly capable, which supports the idea that it should be a dependable daily driver when maintained properly. Chevrolet’s 10-speed automatic and the Tahoe’s updated engineering add to that impression of durability. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying for a large, complex SUV without getting a well-kept example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you like, even if it looks clean on the surface. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the suspension, electronics, tires, and interior condition, since those are the areas where wear can be expensive on a full-size SUV. Focus on how the vehicle was used and whether the equipment level matches your needs, because the Tahoe’s trim and option spread is wide.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS and LT have different grille patterns, the RST adds a blacked-out sporty look, the Z71 adds a rugged appearance with red tow hooks, a skid plate, and all-terrain tires, the Premier adds chrome accents and polished wheels, and the High Country gets the most upscale exterior treatment. The base LS includes cloth seats, while leather starts on LT.
• Powertrain: The standard 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 horsepower and pairs with a 10-speed automatic. A 6.2-liter V8 is exclusive to High Country, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder was planned for most versions except Z71. Four-wheel drive is optional on most trims and standard on Z71.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and Chevrolet Connected Services. Navigation is an upgrade, and there are available Bose premium audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 is described as returning 18 mpg in combined driving in 4WD form, and the diesel is said to improve combined fuel economy by about five mpg.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tahoe’s core space and capability with cloth seats and the standard 10.2-inch infotainment system. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model, but it leaves you with the fewest luxury touches.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather and keeps the Tahoe’s big strengths intact without pushing you into the pricier upper trims. If you want a more polished cabin without chasing every available feature, this is the one to focus on.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package with the blacked-out look and 22-inch wheels. It is more about style than added capability.
• Z71: This is the rugged-looking choice, with all-terrain tires, tow hooks, a skid plate, and standard four-wheel drive. It suits you best if you want the most off-road-oriented appearance and hardware in the lineup.
• Premier: This trim adds a more upscale feel with chrome accents, polished wheels, and perforated leather. It also unlocks more advanced safety equipment.
• High Country: This is the luxury-focused top trim, with the 6.2-liter V8 and the most premium interior materials. It is the right pick if you want the strongest mix of power and upscale content.

Safety-package features are not standard across the lineup, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, pay close attention to trim and option content.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,023 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,813, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $38,813 sits slightly below last year's $44,820.

That price drop suggests the Tahoe has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A lower entry cost can leave more room for resale later, especially if the vehicle is well maintained and equipped with desirable features. Strong demand for full-size SUVs can also help support values over time, but condition and trim will matter a lot when you go to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has not been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage. The review also recommends the available surround-view camera for easier maneuvering in tight spaces. One caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year is the redesign that improves comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: The 2021 Tahoe is the right path if you want the redesigned version with better space, better tech, and stronger overall appeal than the previous generation. If your priority is simply the lowest purchase price, a different year may be easier on your budget, but the 2021 is the better choice if you want the more modern and more complete Tahoe package.
