About 2021 Audi SQ7
The Audi SQ7, a performance variant of the three-row Q7 SUV, was all new for 2020. The 2021 SQ7 brings several feature updates, but otherwise carries over unchanged. Competitors include the BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne, and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. The SQ7’s arrival coincided with a comprehensive facelift for the Q7 as a whole, so it benefits from the same revised headlights and taillights and giant “Singleframe” grille. Subtle changes distinguish it from the regular Q7, however: the hexagonal grille pattern on the lower intakes, the quad-tip exhaust setup with rear diffuser, and giant two-tone wheels. The Premium Plus trim level comes standard with 21-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting, paddle shifters, stainless door sills, a 10.1-inch upper and 8.6-inch lower touchscreens, eight-way powered and heated front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a digital instrument cluster. As with the regular Q7, you can order the Black Optic package on the SQ7, which replaces all the exterior brightwork with gloss-black trim, and a 3D surround system with 19 speakers and a 15-channel amplifier. There’s also a Sport Package, which gets you active roll stabilization, a sport differential, and red brake calipers, for enhanced driving. Every SQ7 gets a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 rated for 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain includes a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. The list of standard and optional safety features is extensive and includes a 360-degree camera system, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, intersection assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. The Q7 remains a compelling option for a family-friendly luxury sedan, and the SQ7 adds the performance that some parents may have been craving all along.
