How much does the 2020 Tesla Model Y cost?

Prices are up 4.12% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,100 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Tesla Model Y a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Tesla Model Y earns a 4.77/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive acceleration, spacious interior, and modern technology, and they also value its comfort and safety features. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical electric crossover with roomy packaging and a lot of standard equipment. With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Tesla Model Y reliable?

Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise for the vehicle’s comfort, safety features, and the convenience of not having to buy gas. That kind of positive long-term sentiment matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the model has earned trust from people living with it every day. For you, the main ownership risk is less about broad satisfaction and more about making sure the specific used example has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Tesla Model Y?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual car you’re considering is clean. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and all major functions, especially since this model routes nearly everything through the touchscreen. Focus on overall condition and how well the vehicle’s technology and controls work in daily use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Tesla Model Y?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.12% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 79.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,259, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Tesla Model Y's resale value?

The current average of $26,162 sits slightly above last year's $25,128.

That upward move suggests the market has continued to support this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A higher current average can help preserve your exit value, especially if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Demand should remain helped by the model’s combination of EV range, practicality, and broad owner appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Tesla Model Y or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.12% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the earliest version of this model year’s formula and you value strong owner satisfaction, the 2020 is a sensible place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and asking price.
