Used 2020 Subaru WRX for Sale nearGreensboro, NC

How much does the 2020 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 5.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 623 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru WRX earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the turbo power, handling, and comfort, especially for daily driving. The WRX also stands out for its fun-to-drive character, manual transmission availability, and standard all-wheel drive.

The main trade-offs are its outdated technology and some complaints about interior quality and tire noise at higher speeds. In practical terms, it fits you best if you want an engaging sedan that still works as an everyday commuter, rather than a polished comfort-first car.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly highlighting its performance and comfort over time. The review summary also emphasizes that many drivers appreciate it as a daily driver, which supports the idea that it can handle regular ownership well.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the WRX as a home-grown celebration of Subaru’s reliable, efficient lineup and its long-running all-wheel-drive engineering. It also notes that the manual transmission feels smooth and forgiving enough for normal commuting.

If you buy used, your biggest long-term risk is more likely to come from how the car was driven and maintained than from the basic formula itself.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on signs of wear that match the WRX’s performance-oriented personality, including tire condition, brake condition, and any evidence of rough use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, power front-and-rear windows, Bluetooth, satellite radio, two USB ports, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premium adds 18-inch wheels, halogen fog lights, steering-responsive auto-on/off headlights, heated front seats, a power moonroof, and a larger 7-inch touchscreen. The Limited adds leather upholstery, push-button start, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-liter boxer-four with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes with symmetrical all-wheel drive and a standard six-speed manual transmission, with a CVT also available.
• Safety package: EyeSight is available and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking are also available. EyeSight is not standard on the WRX.
• Infotainment: The WRX comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while a 7-inch screen is available. Both include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual-equipped WRX returns 21 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. The CVT version returns 18 mpg city, 24 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru WRX is offered in 3 trim levels: Base, Premium, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the WRX experience at the lowest entry point. You still get the core formula: turbo power, standard all-wheel drive, a manual transmission, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. It suits you best if you care more about driving feel than extra comfort features.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the equipment that makes the WRX feel more complete, including heated front seats, a power moonroof, fog lights, and the larger 7-inch touchscreen. If you want the sweet spot between price and everyday livability, this is the one to target.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused version of the standard WRX, with leather upholstery, push-button start, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It makes sense if you want a more upscale cabin without moving into STI territory.

EyeSight is available, but it is not standard on the WRX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 623 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,834, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $20,834 sits slightly below last year's $21,986.

That price movement suggests the WRX has softened enough to create a more approachable entry point for used buyers. For a future seller, that means you may not see rapid appreciation, but the car’s enthusiast appeal can still help support demand if it’s well kept.

Because the market is already pricing in some depreciation, condition and documentation matter more than ever. A clean, unmodified example with strong maintenance records should be easier to move than one with questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2020 Subaru WRX earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The WRX comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. EyeSight is available and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking are also available.

One important caveat is that EyeSight is optional rather than standard, so you should verify whether a used example has it if driver-assistance features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends standard all-wheel drive, a manual transmission, and strong performance into a daily-driver package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,368, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,834 average.
• It keeps the same performance-first formula while emphasizing everyday engagement and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and broad enthusiast appeal. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but the 2020 gives you the stronger price-to-experience ratio.
