How much does the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 13.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 599 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, impressive performance, and comfort of the ride, while also highlighting the advanced features. For you, that means this model fits especially well if you want a flagship luxury sedan with a polished driving experience and a long list of high-end amenities. With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful shopping opportunity.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience when the car is maintained properly, with praise centered on comfort and the overall quality of the driving experience. That said, the same feedback and model description both suggest you should expect higher upkeep costs over time, so long-term ownership risk is more about expensive repairs than weak day-to-day satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 72.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and inconsistent mileage records. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention on suspension condition, electrical systems, and any signs of expensive wear. Because this is a complex luxury sedan, you should focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence more than cosmetic appeal alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 599 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,297, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $46,326 sits slightly below last year's $53,362.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale more sensitive to condition, mileage, and service history. If you buy well and keep the car documented and clean, you may be better positioned than a seller who waits too long or skips maintenance. Because this is a high-end sedan with expensive ownership costs, buyers in the used market will likely remain selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $58,597, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $46,326 average.
• It brings a redesigned cabin with more advanced infotainment and updated powertrains.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and a meaningful share of deal listings. If you care more about the newest redesign and are willing to pay a premium, the 2021 is the better path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 is the more practical choice.
