FAQs
The future of the Lincoln MKZ is still in question, as is the future of nearly all Ford passenger cars, but the MKZ Hybrid arrives for 2020 with some slight content shuffling by way of new paint options and some new packages.
For starters, Blue Diamond Metallic, Crystal Copper Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic, and Ruby Red Metallic colors have all been deleted and replaced with Empire Blue Metallic, Magma Red, Red Carpet Metallic, and Silver Radiance. But more dramatically, four new packages available for the 2020 MKZ Hybrid create quite a bit of flexibility in configuration.
With the base MKZ Hybrid, you’ll get a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for a total system output of 188 horsepower. This is a big downgrade from the gasoline MKZ’s 245 hp, but with the immediate torque of the electric motor, the difference isn’t anywhere near as noticeable as the numbers would suggest. More than that, the MKZ Hybrid’s efficiency rating of 42 mpg city, 39 highway, and 41 combined is a big improvement over the gasoline version’s 20 city, 31 highway, 24 combined. Still, while the MKZ Hybrid started out as the world’s most efficient luxury hybrid sedan, things have changed a bit since its 2011 introduction.
Efficiency aside, the MKZ Hybrid comes with an impressive list of standard features including an adaptive suspension, adaptive xenon headlights, heated front seats, automatic wipers with a de-icer, and Lincoln’s Co-Pilot360 safety package, which includes automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist with driver alert, forward-collision warning with pre-collision assist, automatic braking with pedestrian detection, and a rear-view camera. On the technology front, you’re looking at the Sync 3 infotainment system, which you’ll interact with through an 8-inch touchscreen display. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are both standard, and an 11-speaker stereo offers a CD player, two USB ports, and satellite radio.
The Reserve trim is where most customers will feel comfortable, with features more familiar in a luxury vehicle, like an upgraded 14-speaker stereo with navigation, a power steering wheel, leather upholstery, wood trim, and ambient interior lighting. Of particular note is the power moonroof. For a bit of enhanced tech, the Reserve adds two rear USB charge ports, a 110-volt outlet, a power soft-close trunk, and an enhanced park-assist system that will locate an available parking spot and steer your MKZ into place.
From there you can augment your MKZ in a number of ways. A Convenience package will take the base MKZ Hybrid and add many of the features you’d get with the Reserve, like the ambient lighting, leather-wrapped power steering wheel, power trunk, navigation, dual rear USB charge ports, and 110-volt outlet. With the Reserve trim, those in colder climates might be interested in the Elements package, which adds heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Luxury package will upgrade the stereo to a 20-speaker system as well as add multi-contour front seats and LED headlights. Finally, a Monochromatic package will add unique 19-inch wheels and a body-color grille.
The MKZ Hybrid might not be the most efficient luxury sedan option anymore, and the future of the MKZ itself may still be uncertain, but it’s still worthy of your consideration if you’re looking at hybrid luxury sedans.

My 2015 was the best car Ive ever owned. Period. 182k completely trouble free miles averaging 38+ real world mpg. Not sporty, but very comfortable. Infinite praise from passengers. Cant wait to do it again with the 2020.
