CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Lincoln Aviator
overall

Summary
With 75 currently listed for sale near Wichita, KS and an average price of $34,987.00, 65.3% of 2020 Lincoln Aviators for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Lincoln Aviator 4.61 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.
97.3% of 2020 Aviator models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Lincoln Aviator marks Lincoln’s return to a more cohesive luxury identity, with a stylish design and a clear emphasis on comfort. It is described as an all-new midsize, 3-row luxury SUV, and it is based on the contemporary Explorer platform while still being positioned as a luxury vehicle in its own right. That combination gives it a distinctive place in Lincoln’s lineup: familiar underlying hardware, but a more upscale mission and presentation.
What makes the 2020 Lincoln Aviator appealing is its broad luxury focus. The available test-drive notes point to multiple powertrain options, and owners commonly praise its powerful performance, smooth ride, advanced features, and comfortable seating. The cabin is also seen as spacious overall, which helps support its role as a family-oriented luxury SUV.
There are still tradeoffs. The test-drive data calls out poor ergonomic design and a cramped third row, so the Aviator is not without practical compromises. Even so, its blend of style, comfort, and luxury ambition makes it stand out as Lincoln’s effort to re-establish itself in the crowded three-row premium SUV segment.

Great features. This is the highest level trim. Doing some research the reliability for 2020 Aviators is low. It appears that was the first year the car was sold. Decided to pursue a 2021 model.

We were delighted with the purchase of the Lincoln Aviator. We enjoy the large sunroof, seating for seven (heated and cooled seats in second row), and the adaptive cruise control. The vehicle helps steer itself and adjusts speeds not only when coming up on other vehicles, but changes the speed when speed limits change. Very comfortable ride and is very responsive with the twin turbo engine. It is a well designed vehicle!

| Year-Round High | $32,378.17 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $32,373 |

Prices have softened 11.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 819 listings available, which suggests you have room to compare options before you buy.
If you find a listing below $28,576.85, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Lincoln Aviator a good car?
Yes — the 4.61/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.17/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, powerful performance, smooth ride, advanced features, and comfortable seating. The spacious interior also comes through as a recurring strength, which fits the Aviator’s role as a three-row luxury SUV.
The main trade-offs are poor ergonomic design and a cramped third row, so you should expect some practicality compromises even if the cabin feels upscale. That matters most if you plan to use the third row often or want a more intuitive control layout.
For shoppers who want a comfort-first family luxury SUV with strong feature content, the Aviator fits the brief well. The market also shows 31.3% good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Lincoln Aviator reliable?
Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the Aviator’s comfortable, trouble-free character and the kind of luxury setup you can count on day to day.
The expert notes reinforce that impression by emphasizing smooth, confident acceleration and a refined driving experience. Lincoln also includes a broad set of standard equipment, which can help reduce the feeling that you need to add a lot of extras just to get a well-rounded vehicle.
If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been maintained well and kept in good condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lincoln Aviator?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin condition, electronics, and how well the vehicle’s luxury features work in real use. Pay extra attention to the third row and control layout, since those are the areas where this model can feel less accommodating.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Standard trim comes with three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, heated front seats, Sync 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, four USB ports, and satellite radio. It also leaves some comfort upgrades for packages or higher trims.
- Powertrain: The standard twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 makes 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, while the plug-in hybrid setup combines that engine with an electric motor for 494 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. Both use a 10-speed automatic, and the base V6 is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Lincoln Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is also included, and some additional driver-assistance features are optional on the Reserve trim.
- Infotainment: The standard 10.1-inch touchscreen runs Sync 3 and supports wireless-free smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via USB. The system uses a landscape layout, and the vehicle also offers a fully digital instrument panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive V6 returns 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined. With all-wheel drive, it drops to 17 city, 24 highway, and 20 combined. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 23 mpg combined, with a 21-mile electric-only range and 56 mpg equivalent combined.
Which 2020 Lincoln Aviator trim should I buy?
The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is offered in 5 trim levels: Standard, Reserve, Grand Touring, Black Label, and Black Label Grand Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Standard trim is the value play because it already includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, parking sensors, and the full Sync 3 setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It skips some of the richer comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Reserve adds second-row captain’s chairs, upgraded leather, a hands-free power liftgate, a premium sound system, quad-zone climate control, a surround-view camera system, and navigation, making it the best balance of luxury and equipment.
- Premium/top trim: The Black Label brings the most upscale cabin treatment, with unique upholstery choices and nearly every feature made standard. If you want the most lavish version, this is the one to target.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are positioned as an off-road-focused choice, so daily drivers should focus on comfort, equipment, and value instead.
Lincoln Co-Pilot360 is standard, so even the base model starts with a strong safety package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lincoln Aviator?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 819 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 80.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,576.85, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Lincoln Aviator's resale value?
The current average of $28,558 sits slightly below last year's $32,373.
That kind of price movement suggests the Aviator has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future buyers but may limit near-term resale upside for current owners. If you buy at the right price now, you may be starting from a more favorable value position than someone who bought when prices were higher.
The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time, especially among shoppers looking for a comfortable, well-equipped three-row luxury SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Lincoln Aviator safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Lincoln Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is also included, which gives the Aviator a strong baseline safety setup.
The standard safety equipment also includes a full array of front and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. If you’re comparing trims, note that some additional driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard on the Reserve trim.
Should I buy a 2020 Lincoln Aviator or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 stands out for its stylish design, comfortable cabin, and multiple powertrain options.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $31,650, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,558 average.
- It adds a more upscale, tech-forward cabin with stronger luxury polish.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the model still brings strong luxury appeal. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer version with a more polished presentation, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
