How much does the 2020 Lexus RX cost?

There are 1,400 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Lexus RX earns a 4.88/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers consistently praise its luxury feel, comfort, quiet cabin, smooth ride, and reliability. It also fits buyers who want a midsize luxury SUV that feels easy to live with rather than overly flashy or complicated.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and some cabin-noise complaints at moderate speeds. The overview also points to a relaxed, comfort-first character, which means you should expect refinement more than excitement.

With 38.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX reliable?

The user feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they would count on it for the long term. The expert evaluation reinforces that reputation by describing Lexus’ tradition of reliability and noting that the RX remains a solid choice for buyers who want a luxury SUV that is easy to live with.

The performance write-up also supports that dependable character by emphasizing smooth operation from the transmission and a calm, composed driving experience. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about making sure the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus RX?

At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in a luxury SUV: interior wear, electronics behavior, and signs that the vehicle has been used hard or repaired poorly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RX gets standard 18-inch wheels, slimmer headlights, L-shaped taillights, and a well-appointed cabin, while the F Sport appearance package adds a unique steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, bumpers, grille, badges, front seats, meter, aluminum ornamentation, and 20-inch wheels. The base setup is more comfort-focused, while the F Sport look is the more aggressive choice.
• Powertrain: The RX 350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with an eight-speed automatic and 295 horsepower, while the three-row RX 350L is slightly detuned. A hybrid RX 450h is also available with 308 horsepower, and the hybrid lineup is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, a rearview camera, daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, and lane-tracing assist. Blind-spot monitoring is available.
• Infotainment: The RX comes with an 8.0-inch display, an available 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six USB ports. The system is still known for being difficult to navigate, even with the touchscreen update.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350 achieves 23 mpg combined, the RX 350L and RX 350 AWD get 22 mpg combined, and the RX 350L AWD gets 21 mpg combined. The RX 450h AWD gets 30 mpg combined, and the RX 450hL gets 29 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Lexus RX is offered in 4 trim levels: RX 350, RX 350L, RX 450h, RX 450hL.

Here's the short version:

• RX 350: This is the best-value choice if you want the core RX experience: a smooth 3.5-liter V6, an eight-speed automatic, strong comfort, and the lowest starting price in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the standard two-row RX without paying extra for hybrid efficiency or added length.
• RX 350L: Choose this if you need the three-row layout and want the same basic RX formula with extra passenger space. It gives you the longer body and family-friendly flexibility, but you should expect slightly lower output and efficiency than the standard RX 350.
• RX 450h: This is the efficiency-focused pick, pairing the V6 with an electric motor for 308 horsepower and the best fuel economy in the group. It makes the most sense if you want the RX’s comfort and refinement with lower fuel use.
• RX 450hL: Pick this if you want the three-row hybrid version and are willing to pay more for the added space and hybrid powertrain. It is the most specialized choice in the lineup, so it fits best if you specifically want both the third row and hybrid efficiency.

The safety package is a strength across the lineup, with Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 standard and blind-spot monitoring available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus RX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,400 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,459, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $32,897 sits slightly below last year's $33,031.

That small decline suggests the RX is holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is helpful because it points to a market that remains familiar with the model and willing to pay for the right example.

The RX’s comfort-first reputation and strong owner satisfaction should also help keep demand healthy over time. Well-kept listings with clean history and desirable equipment are likely to remain easier to move than neglected examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX safe?

The 2020 Lexus RX earns good safety ratings from IIHS and NHTSA crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, and lane-tracing assist. Blind-spot monitoring is available, and the RX also comes with a standard rearview camera.

One caveat is that Lexus Enform Safety Connect did not always connect reliably during testing, so you should not treat that service as a substitute for the core safety hardware. The RX’s crash-test reputation is strong, but you should still verify that all driver-assistance features work properly on any used example.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds updated safety tech and a more accommodating infotainment setup for this model year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,416, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $32,897 average.
• It brings a few tech upgrades and new standard safety systems.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it delivers the RX’s comfort, reliability, and strong safety reputation at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with a few extra tech and safety updates, the 2021 is the better path.
