How much does the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar cost?

Prices have softened 13.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its stunning design, luxurious features, and comfortable, fun driving character. They also highlight its power and performance, especially with the supercharged engines. On the other hand, some owners say it feels overpriced and that the multimedia system could be better.

That lines up with the Velar’s positioning as a stylish, road-friendly luxury SUV that still keeps off-road capability in the mix. The trade-offs are that it does not bring much cargo space, and some of its appeal depends on whether you value design and character over practicality.

With 33.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, trouble-free, and worth counting on over time, especially for shoppers who value the Velar’s blend of style and capability. Land Rover includes a six-year corrosion/perforation warranty with unlimited mileage, which is a useful ownership perk to keep in mind. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that luxury features and complex systems can be costly to sort out if prior maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented ownership record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the suspension, electronics, and drivetrain behavior, since those are the kinds of systems that can be expensive to address later. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base four-cylinder model comes fairly well equipped with a power tailgate, Terrain Response, and hill-descent control, but it lacks advanced driver aids and only gets an open rear differential.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in two outputs, and a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 in the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition; the turbo-four is the most fuel-efficient choice.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and front and rear parking aids, while adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring are available in an option package.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses dual 10.0-inch touchscreens, a built-in WiFi hotspot for up to eight devices, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The base turbo-four is rated at 23 mpg combined, 21 mpg city, and 27 mpg highway; the V6 is rated at 20 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway; the V8 is rated at 17 mpg combined, 15 mpg city, and 20 mpg highway.

Which 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar trim should I buy?

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar is offered in 4 trim levels: base four-cylinder model, 3.0-liter supercharged V6, 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp, and SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition.

Here's the short version:

• base four-cylinder model: This is the value pick if you want the Velar’s styling, Terrain Response, hill-descent control, and better fuel economy without paying for the higher-output engines. It is also the trim where the missing driver aids are most noticeable.
• 3.0-liter supercharged V6: This is the middle-ground choice if you want more power than the base engine without jumping all the way to the V8 special edition. It keeps the same standard four-wheel-drive setup and eight-speed automatic.
• 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp: Choose this if you want the stronger V6 tune and are willing to pay more for extra performance. It is the most powerful non-V8 option in the lineup.
• SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 5.0-liter supercharged V8, bigger brakes, retuned four-wheel drive and air-suspension logic, beefed-up drivetrain hardware, and an active exhaust system. It is the most dramatic Velar, but it also comes at a significant price premium.

Safety features are not standard across the lineup, so make sure you confirm which driver-assistance package is included on any used example you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 545 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,635, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar's resale value?

The current average of $23,635 sits slightly below last year's $27,345.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Velar’s value is being shaped by softer pricing and a fairly selective used-car market. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should hold up better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar safe?

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar does not have published crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and front and rear parking aids. Adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring are available as part of an option package, so you should confirm whether a used example has that equipment if driver assistance matters to you. The expert review also notes that Land Rover’s lane-keep assist is less sophisticated than the systems offered by some rivals.

Should I buy a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year adds the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition, giving you a V8-powered option that is unique to this year.

The bottom line: If you want the Velar’s styling, capability, and the added appeal of the 2020-only V8 special edition, the 2020 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained example you can find, because the market already reflects a meaningful drop from last year and the base model still delivers the core Velar experience.
