Overview

The Kia Niro EV is an entry-level electric vehicle that seats 5, not unlike the Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Kona EV, Nissan Leaf, and Tesla Model 3. For 2020, the Niro EV gets a subtle update, consisting mostly of new lights front and rear, a new bumper, and new wheel designs. Inside, the dashboard is a slightly different shape and there are exciting new tech options.
The Niro EV packs a single electric motor and a 64-kilowatt-hour battery, good for 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. It’s also rated for 123 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) city, 102 highway, and 112 combined. There’s 239 miles of range, and the standard 7.2 kW onboard charger replenishes the battery in as little as 9.5 hours on a household Level 2 charge. If you’re near a Level 3 DC fast-charger, you can get up to an 80-percent charge in just an hour.
In the name of simplicity, the Niro EV comes in the same EX and EX Premium trims as before. The base EX gets you heated front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, keyless access and start, dual-zone automatic climate control, USB connectivity, and rear console vents. The EX Premium gets you a premium Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a wireless phone charger, and LED taillights. You can add a Cold Weather package, which comes with a heated steering wheel, a battery heater, and a heat pump, the last of which is an efficient way to heat the cabin that doesn’t detract from the driving range as much as the standard heater.
Safety-wise, the Niro EV comes with Kia’s Drive Wise safety suite, which gets you a rear-view camera, automatic emergency braking with forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The only option from there is a set of parking sensors. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Niro EV with a Top Safety Pick + award.
The Niro EV attempts to make the electric vehicle experience as approachable and traditional as possible.

Really great (almost) SUV that is pure EV. Family loves it, and my only complaint is the fact that it did not come with an adaptor to fit the superchargers. Minor complaint but outside of that, I really enjoy the range and features this car comes packed with.

Great value and the range is much longer then advertised. Only issue is that the backup sound (now required by government) is very loud.
