About 2020 Jaguar F-TYPE
The Jaguar F-TYPE, which first launched in 2014, is a distinctive luxury sports car that gets a number of new standard features for 2020. This model year also brings the limited Checkered Flag Edition, available as either a coupe and convertible. Competitors include the Audi TT, Lexus RC, Alfa Romeo 4C, Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class, Porsche Boxster and 911, and BMW 8 Series. Though the F-TYPE’s sleek exterior carries over mostly unchanged, a few new options help the 2020 model stand out. Eiger Grey and Portofino Blue are new color options available across the lineup. The Checkered Flag Edition boasts extended side sills, an exclusive 20-inch wheel design, red brake calipers, and a black contrast roof on the coupe. The F-TYPE powertrain lineup kicks off with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Next up is a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that yields 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Both are available only with rear-wheel drive (RWD). The V6 is also available tuned for 380 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, with the option of all-wheel drive (AWD) added to the mix. The top two trims are powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, available with specs of 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque or 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, both with AWD. Depending on the engine, you’ll get a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The base trim is the most efficient of the group, rated for 23 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined. With seating for two, the F-TYPE has a cozy, exclusive feel. Leather upholstery comes standard, and options include upgraded leather, adjustable performance seats, ambient lighting, a suede headliner, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Checkered Flag Edition gets dark brushed aluminum trim, Ebony Windsor leather upholstery with a choice of contrast stitching, and special embossing on the steering wheel and headrests. Every F-TYPE trim gets a 10-inch infotainment display that supports swipe and pinch gestures and features a customizable home screen. Navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, and an 8-speaker Meridian audio system come standard. For 2020, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are newly included. The F-TYPE hasn’t undergone safety testing from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which is not uncommon for a vehicle in this class. However, the F-TYPE gets plenty of standard safety features, including a reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, driver-attentiveness monitoring, and traffic-sign recognition. Though the Jaguar F-TYPE hasn’t seen a full redesign during its run, regular updates have kept it fresh and competitive. The 2020 F-TYPE’s special edition adds even more visual interest and exclusivity to this stylish sports car.
