Used 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale nearColumbia, SC

How much does the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 5.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,271 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare trims, equipment, and condition.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — with a 4.86/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a truck that scores well with both owners and our testers. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, towing capabilities, and power, and they also highlight its appealing features. The main trade-offs are that pricing can feel high for the year and model, and some shoppers prefer newer options.

For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want heavy-duty capability with an upscale Denali feel and plenty of cargo space, rather than a bargain-focused work truck. Even with those strengths, the market still shows 33.7% good or great deals, so you can shop selectively.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to you: performance, comfort, towing, and power all come up repeatedly, along with praise for its appealing features. The expert evaluation also reinforces that this is a truck built around serious capability and a durable, work-first mission.

The diesel and gas V8 setups are both described as strong, with the diesel especially noted for its stump-pulling grunt and the gas engine for substantial output. The truck’s heavy-duty design and straightforward controls also support confidence in day-to-day use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core capability and more about whether the truck has been maintained well and used hard, especially given its heavy-duty mission.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-specific check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, signs of hard towing use, and whether the truck’s features and electronics work as expected. Since this is a large heavy-duty pickup, pay close attention to maneuvering aids, camera systems, and any evidence of parking or trailering damage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Sierra comes with a V8 engine and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but frills are minimal. The SLE adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, trailering mirrors, an EZ lift-and-lower tailgate, a larger driver-information screen, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SLT adds 18-inch wheels, LED bed lighting, LED fog lights, chrome accents, power-adjustable front seats, power outlets, and the upgraded 8-inch infotainment screen. The Denali adds a full leather interior, wood-grain inserts, navigation, wireless device charging, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Powertrain: You get two 6.6-liter V8 choices: a gas engine with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, or a Duramax diesel with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft. The gas engine uses a 6-speed automatic, while the diesel uses a 10-speed Allison transmission. The diesel brings massive low-end power, while the gas engine is the simpler route.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Driver Alert Package I adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Driver Alert Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen running GMC Infotainment 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SLT and Denali move up to an 8-inch screen, and both are available with navigation. The Denali also adds an 8-inch color driver-information screen.
• Fuel efficiency: In mixed driving, the truck returned 16.5 miles per gallon.

Which 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD is offered in 4 trim levels: Sierra, SLE, SLT, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core heavy-duty hardware plus the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and do not need many comfort features.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like trailering mirrors, remote keyless entry, cruise control, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and a larger driver-information display without jumping all the way to Denali pricing.
• SLT: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale truck without paying Denali money. You get the 8-inch infotainment screen, power-adjustable front seats, LED bed lighting, LED fog lights, chrome accents, and the Multi-Pro six-way tailgate.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most premium cabin in the lineup, with full leather, wood-grain trim, navigation, wireless charging, and the Bose premium audio system. It is the right pick if luxury matters as much as capability.

Safety-wise, the Driver Alert Package I adds parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, while Driver Alert Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,271 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $48,555, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $48,555 sits slightly below last year's $51,361.

That decline suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago. For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, but you should not expect rapid appreciation.

The truck’s premium Denali appeal and strong capability help support demand, especially among buyers who want heavy-duty strength with upscale features. Even so, the current price trend shows that shoppers have become a bit more selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Driver Alert Package I adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, while Driver Alert Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams.

The truck’s size and turning radius are real safety considerations in tight spaces, and the expert evaluation notes that the massive overhangs make maneuvering more difficult. The available cameras on all four sides and the two-tier trailering mirrors help reduce that stress, especially when you are parking or towing.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year stands out for its Denali appeal, strong capability, and upscale feature set.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with premium Denali character, strong towing ability, and a well-liked ownership experience, the 2020 is the right path to focus on. If your priority is simply finding the lowest price, you may want to compare nearby years and shop whichever one gives you the best condition and equipment for the money.
