CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 104 currently listed for sale near Fort Lauderdale, FL and an average price of $17,715, 15.4% of 2020 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Edge 4.63 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
82.7% of 2020 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Edge is a midsize two-row SUV that stands out more for being well equipped than for making a dramatic visual statement. Its design is described as showing signs of age, and its styling is called uninspired, but Ford offsets that with plenty of standard tech and safety features. The result is a vehicle that does not try to wow buyers, yet still offers a straightforward, easy-to-live-with package.
That practicality is a big part of the Edge’s appeal. The technology is described as easy to use, and the standard advanced safety features add to its everyday value. Ford also offers a performance variant called the Edge ST, giving the lineup a sportier option that is not found in the Nissan Murano or Honda Passport. At the same time, the base engine is described as underwhelming, and the Edge is said to be getting long in the tooth, so shoppers looking for the most exciting or freshest SUV may find it less compelling than newer rivals.
Owners’ feedback reinforces the Edge’s strengths as a comfortable, spacious SUV with modern features and solid build quality. Some drivers did report technical issues, especially with the transmission and certain tech features, but the overall impression is that the 2020 Ford Edge remains a practical and appealing choice for buyers who value comfort, roominess, and a well-equipped cabin.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford Edge on Mar 2, 2026
I was impressed with the features of the Ford Edge SE (i.e. backup camera, lane assist, multiple airbags, roominess, etc.) I was also impressed with the comfort of the seats and the comfort of the ride on rougher paved roads. Compared to my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, I have only found two negatives: 1. Remote start is not on the keyfob but only available through the phone app 2. Manual liftgate instead of the power liftgate

This car has all the bells and whistles. Lane assist, auto headlights and whipers, wireless charging pad, number pad entry so you can leave your car running but locked, hands free lift gate sun and moon roof. The list goes on.

It is the best vehicle in its class for the money. I would compare this to an Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GL class, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Blazer, Genesis GV70 and many others.

How much does the 2020 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,874 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,716 |
| Year-Round High | $18,431 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,431 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.45% |
Prices have softened 8.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 2,576 listings available, you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 4.63/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, modern features, solid build quality, and roomy interior, which makes it especially appealing if you want a practical two-row SUV for families or tall passengers. The Edge also fits buyers who value an easy-to-use cabin and a straightforward daily driver rather than a flashy design statement.
The main trade-offs are its uninspired styling and underwhelming base engine. Even so, the Edge’s practical packaging and feature content help it stay appealing if you want comfort, room, and convenience over excitement. Good and great deals account for 34.4% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.63/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to solid build quality, comfort, and a vehicle that many drivers feel good about keeping over time. The review summary also emphasizes that the Edge is viewed as a top choice in its class, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable used buy when maintained well.
The expert evaluation also describes the Edge as a practical, well-equipped SUV with a refined ride and a cabin that feels easy to live with. Ford’s standard maintenance coverage language is not included here, so your best protection is a careful service-history check and a pre-purchase inspection.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is the reported technical trouble, especially around the transmission and certain tech features.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every candidate, because accident-free status does not replace a full records check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, electronics, and any infotainment or driver-assistance behavior that may not match the seller’s description. Pay close attention to cabin condition and feature operation, since the Edge’s value comes from its equipment as much as its mechanical basics.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE comes with a 10-way power driver’s seat, satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. The SEL adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a six-way power front passenger seat, a nine-speaker premium audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Titanium adds 19-inch nickel-plated aluminum wheels, genuine leather upholstery, a 10-way power front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, a wall-style power outlet, remote start, wireless charging, and a 12-speaker B&O sound system. The ST adds a bigger, more powerful engine, standard AWD, and sportier styling.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, also paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is optional on the SEL and ST and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go traffic capability plus active lane centering.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is described as very easy to use, and navigation is optional on the SEL and ST but standard on the Titanium.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder with front-wheel drive returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. With all-wheel drive, it returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined. The ST returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined.
Which 2020 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you a lot of standard equipment, including SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. If you want the lowest-cost way into the Edge without giving up the core tech and safety content, this is the trim to start with.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, upgraded audio, and more comfort features without jumping all the way to luxury pricing. It also unlocks the optional Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package, which adds adaptive cruise control and active lane centering.
- Titanium: Choose this if you want the most upscale non-ST Edge, with genuine leather, a premium B&O audio system, wireless charging, memory seating, and standard navigation. It suits you best if cabin polish and convenience matter more than price.
- ST: Pick this if you want the performance-oriented Edge, since it brings the stronger V6, standard AWD, and sportier tuning and styling. It is the right choice if you care most about power and driving character.
The SEL is the trim most buyers should cross-shop first, and the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package is the key safety upgrade to look for on SEL and ST models.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Edge?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,576 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.45% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 77.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,716, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $16,874 sits slightly below last year's $18,431.
That decline suggests the Edge has moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help you if you are shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect the market to be more price-sensitive than it was a year ago.
Even so, the Edge’s broad appeal as a comfortable, well-equipped SUV can help support demand when it is clean, well maintained, and properly optioned. Models with desirable features and strong condition should remain easier to move than stripped or neglected examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.63/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge safe?
The 2020 Ford Edge received a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. If you move up to the SEL, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and active lane centering.
One caveat is that IIHS headlight performance varies by trim level, with some versions rated lower than others. That makes it worth checking the exact equipment on any used Edge you consider.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.45% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.63/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech with easy-to-use SYNC 3 and a broad trim range.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $15,340, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $16,874 average.
- It offers a broader family-hauling appeal with strong backseat and cargo space.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,172, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,874 average.
- It adds only a few new tech features while keeping the same roomy, familiar Edge formula.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, standard safety tech, and everyday usability, the 2020 is the smart middle ground. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 can save you money, while the 2021 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer-year premium and are willing to pay more for it.
