How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,069 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, and many also call out its value for money and comfortable interior. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan for shoppers who want easy-to-live-with transportation and straightforward tech. With 26.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Malibu’s smooth ride, comfort, and good gas mileage. The overall picture suggests a car that many owners feel good about living with over time, especially if you want a practical sedan rather than a high-strung performance choice. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk looks manageable if you verify condition and maintenance history before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint matching, alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past collision work or neglected maintenance. It also makes sense to focus on cabin condition and feature operation so you can judge whether the car’s value matches its actual wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,069 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,338, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,338 sits slightly below last year's $14,668.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you buy in at a more favorable point, especially if you choose a clean, well-kept example. If you maintain the car carefully and keep records, you can help protect its value better than the market trend alone might suggest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a value-focused midsize sedan with strong owner satisfaction and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 is a sensible primary target when you find a clean example at a competitive price.
