Is the 2020 Acura RDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura RDX earns a 4.75/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8.5/10 rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The main trade-off is the infotainment setup, which the expert review calls unintuitive and clunky. What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura RDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the infotainment system, interior controls, and any missing convenience features that matter to you. It also helps to compare trims closely, since some desirable equipment is bundled into packages rather than spread evenly across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base RDX comes well equipped with synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats with 12-way power adjustability, a power moonroof, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and driver-assistance features. The Technology Package adds upgraded Milano leather seating, 19-inch wheels, additional driver-assistance features, rear-door keyless entry, and a GPS-linked climate control system. The A-Spec adds visual upgrades, ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, Acura’s UltraSuede upholstery, and sport pedals. The Advance Package adds rain-sensing wipers, acoustic front glass, 16-way power front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, and natural Olive Ash wood trim. The base trim is the best-value choice if you want the strongest mix of standard equipment and price.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a turbocharged 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. You can get front-wheel drive or available Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD), and the setup delivers strong acceleration with little turbo lag.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, and those features also come on the A-Spec. The Advance Package adds a 10.5-inch head-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a washer nozzle for the rear-view camera.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.2-inch screen with Acura’s True Touchpad Interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Bluetooth, two USB ports, a WiFi hot spot, a 9-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. The Technology Package adds two rear USB ports, navigation with real-time traffic updates, and Acura’s ELS premium audio system, while the A-Spec gets ELS Studio 3D with 16 speakers.
• Fuel efficiency: The SH-AWD A-Spec test model returned an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city, 27 highway, 24 combined. The review also notes that the RDX takes premium fuel.

Which 2020 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base RDX, Technology Package, A-Spec Package, and Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• base RDX: This is the best-value trim because it already gives you synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a strong set of driver-assistance features. If you want the most equipment for the money, this is the one to start with.
• Technology Package: This is the smart upgrade if you want a more premium cabin and more convenience tech, thanks to Milano leather, 19-inch wheels, rear-door keyless entry, GPS-linked climate control, navigation, and the upgraded ELS audio system.
• A-Spec Package: Choose this if you want the sportiest look and a richer feature set, including unique wheels and bumpers, ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, UltraSuede upholstery, sport pedals, and the 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D system.
• Advance Package: This is the luxury-focused choice, adding rain-sensing wipers, acoustic front glass, 16-way power front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a surround-view camera.

The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, and those features also come on the A-Spec.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough demand to reward quick action on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,699 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,299, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $24,445 sits slightly below last year's $25,801.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The current range still shows healthy demand, which helps support value retention if your RDX is clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features.

Because the model has softened rather than collapsed, you can still expect a reasonably stable resale path if you keep mileage and condition in check. Higher-trim examples with the right equipment may hold appeal better, especially if they present well and avoid accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura RDX safe?

The RDX earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. Standard hardware also includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH child-seat mounting systems, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and a rear-view camera.

The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, while the Advance Package adds a 10.5-inch head-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a washer nozzle for the rear-view camera. That means the most advanced safety hardware is reserved for higher trims.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 carries over the third-generation RDX formula with strong value, space, and safety tech.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $22,625, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $24,445 average.
• The 2019 is a newly redesigned small luxury crossover with a spacious, well-equipped cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,305, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,445 average.
• The 2021 brings a more modern design direction and a rethought infotainment interface.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and market availability, the 2020 is the strongest all-around pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 can save you money while keeping much of the same core appeal. If you want a newer-feeling cabin and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
