Overview

The Golf has been one of Volkswagen’s biggest sellers in America for many years. In 2017, it debuted the Alltrack, a more utilitarian version with a slightly taller ride height, standard all-wheel drive (AWD), a different grille, and body cladding around the wheel wells and bottom of the bodywork. Volkswagen made some changes under the hood for 2019.
The Alltrack offers one engine, a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder good for 168 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. It drives all four wheels through either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. As of this writing, fuel economy numbers aren’t available.
Cargo space in the back measures 30 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 66.5 cubic feet with them folded, which is a notable improvement over the 23 and 53 cubic feet of the standard Golf. Relative to other cars in this class, the Alltrack has a nice interior with good fit and finish.
Trims include S, SE, and SEL. The base S trim gets synthetic leather seats, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single USB port, and air conditioning. A few active safety features come standard on the Alltrack S as well, but to unlock more of them buyers will have to step up to SE and SEL trims, which add an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a moonroof, and better stereos. The SEL trim also gets auto-dimming headlights, a power driver’s seat, and a navigation system.
On the safety front, all Alltracks come with forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and a post-collision system that will engage the brakes to minimize damage after impact. Higher trims get features like blind-spot monitors, active-lane control, and rear cross-traffic alerts. Crash testing has been incomplete, but the standard Golf has gotten mostly top “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
There isn't much like the Golf Alltrack on the American market. The closest thing is the Subaru Outback, another vehicle that’s more rugged than a station wagon, but not quite an SUV. Golf fans looking for a more rugged ride should consider the Alltrack.

This is my second VW. I also own a 2016 Golf S w/sunroof, larger tires(Continental DWS6) and after market wheels. It is sometimes mistaken for a GTI. The Alltrack handles just as well and seems to hold a tighter line on expressway ramps. Have only had it 4 days and already exceeding gas-mileage that was expected (averaging 32MPG on back roads). Anticipate higher mileage on the highway when cruise is set. Only thing I miss is satellite radio. Should have been standard on all trims. Build quality is very high. Never considered anything else. Great value for the money. Already planning upgrades (sun shades, bumper skuff guard, LED headlight bulbs.) Expect this car to last far into my retirement.

100% satisfied. Stable, quick, responsive, comfortable, and reasonably economical. I opted for the 6-speed manual.

How much does the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $18,457 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,912.15 |
| Year-Round High | $20,369.51 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $19,829 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.92% |
Prices have softened 6.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 98 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $17,912.15, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Drivers consistently praise its excellent handling, comfort, and value for money. Many also like the features and performance, especially the fun factor of the manual transmission.
With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing the car as reliable and trouble-free overall. That said, some owners mention reliability concerns, so you should pay close attention to condition and maintenance history.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a car that has been poorly maintained or has unresolved issues that may not show up in a quick test drive.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the car closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or incomplete maintenance. Focus especially on overall condition and any areas that could affect long-term ownership costs.
Because some owners mention reliability concerns, a pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile before you commit.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 98 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 78.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,912.15, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack's resale value?
The current average of $18,457 sits slightly below last year's $19,829.
That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the car a little less favorable for sellers in the short term. If you buy at the right price, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a used Golf Alltrack with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price trend, the 2019 is a sensible primary choice. If you're especially price-sensitive, keep watching listings for the best deal opportunities and focus on accident-free examples with clean history reports.
