Is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year.

The 2019 Subaru WRX STI is presented as a focused performance sedan that still works as an everyday car. Its standard all-wheel drive, serious performance hardware, and rally-inspired character make it appealing if you want speed with real-world usability. The tradeoff is that it is not a soft-riding or luxurious choice, so it fits you best if performance matters more than comfort.

With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Subaru WRX STI is described as a car built around proven performance hardware and all-weather capability, which supports confidence in its core mechanical formula. At the same time, the buying guide notes that many examples have been heavily used, abused, or modified, so condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been driven hard or altered without proper care.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru WRX STI?

At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has been modified, tracked, or repaired after a collision. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and signs of hard use, since this model’s performance-oriented nature can hide wear. Pay close attention to overall condition, because clean examples are becoming harder to find.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru WRX STI?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 314 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,534, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI's resale value?

The current average of $26,130 sits slightly below last year's $27,655.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the model’s performance reputation and practical all-wheel-drive setup help keep it appealing to enthusiast buyers. Clean, unmodified examples should hold up better than rough or heavily altered ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,102, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $26,130 average.
• It keeps the rally-inspired formula but adds a more outdated-tech, enthusiast-first character.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the better value and are willing to shop carefully for a clean, unmodified example. If you want the newer year and are less sensitive to price, the 2020 is the secondary path, but you should expect to pay more for it.
