Is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2019 Subaru WRX STI stands out as a focused, rally-inspired performance sedan that blends serious speed with everyday usability. Its standard all-wheel drive gives you all-weather confidence, and it is described as a good blend of serious performance and day-to-day practicality, so it fits well if you want an enthusiast car that still works as a daily driver. The tradeoff is that the ride is firm and the interior materials are cheap, so it suits you best if performance matters more than refinement. 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Subaru WRX STI is built around a turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and Subaru’s Driver Controlled Center Differential, which all reinforce its performance-first design. The overview also emphasizes standard all-wheel drive, Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, and Subaru Intelligent Drive, so you get a car engineered for traction and driver involvement. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that many examples have been heavily used, abused, or modified, which can make condition more important than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru WRX STI?

At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and signs of heavy modification. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on the drivetrain, suspension, and clutch, since this model’s performance focus can mean harder use. Pay close attention to overall condition and maintenance records, because a clean, well-kept example matters more here than a bargain that has been driven hard.

If you find a listing below $25,536, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru WRX STI's resale value?

The current average of $26,251 sits slightly below last year's $26,933.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favorable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively to move a car quickly. Because this model appeals to a specific enthusiast audience, condition and originality can matter a lot when it comes time to resell. A clean, unmodified example should be easier to market than one with questionable history or heavy wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $29,524, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $26,251 average.
• It keeps the rally-inspired formula but adds a more up-to-date performance-car feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the better secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019 first.
