Is the 2019 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Subaru Outback earns a 4.96/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, roomy interior, and safety features, and many also like its power and fuel economy in challenging climates. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a practical, family-friendly vehicle with all-weather capability and everyday comfort. With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.96/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights it as dependable and trouble-free for many owners, with praise centered on its smooth ride and confidence in difficult weather. The same feedback also suggests that long-term ownership is best approached with a careful eye on maintenance, especially if you want to minimize surprise costs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, maintenance records, and any signs of wear from daily use. Because some owners mention exterior scratches and oil maintenance concerns, you should pay close attention to cosmetic condition and service history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,768 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,551, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $17,775 sits slightly below last year's $19,044.

That softer pricing can help you buy more efficiently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is choosing a clean, well-maintained example with strong documentation and avoiding cars with accident history. A model that already has broad shopper appeal can still hold demand well when it is presented in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.96/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.96/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,802, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,775 average.
• It emphasizes practical usefulness and straightforward versatility.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,726, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,775 average.
• It adds a more modern cabin with updated tech and fresh safety features.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around pick if you want strong owner satisfaction, solid pricing, and a broad pool of listings to shop. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better value path; if you want newer tech and are willing to pay more, the 2020 is the upgrade route.
